This is a poem of Mespirit's point of view. Mespirit is known as the being of emotion, and this is her short, somewhat angsty poem about how by teaching humans to cry, she also taught them to hate.

I taught them emotion.

Sometimes I ask why,

I've taught them to love,

And reach for the sky.

I taught them to smile.

I taught them to care.

But I also taught them sorrow,

As well as pain and fear.

They're so fragile, like glass,

Quick to shatter, slow to heal.

But they can also be selfish, unaware to what others feel.

I taught them to care, but perhaps they forgot?

Maybe it was the money, the power the sought.

I taught them of anger. Maybe it was unwise.

While one seeks out revenge, another one cries.

If one unleashes their fury,

Another may die.

This jealousy, this pain, this anger.

It all results to one thing,

Hatred.

I have never taught them hatred, but maybe I didn't have to.

I gave them the ingredients, anger, sorrow, and pain.

I gave them jealousy, wanting, desire.

Maybe that's all they needed to create an emotion all their own,

Hatred.

I taught them emotion,

Maybe not so wise?
