Summary: How Mr. Schuester found out about Sam and Kurt.
I don't own Glee.
Well, That Was Unexpected by the darkness revealed
Mr. Schuester liked Sam Brooks. Really, what's not to like? Sam was polite and enthusiastic; he had a great singing voice and never missed a glee practice; plus, he got along with every single person in glee, even Rachel and Puck!
And that's why Mr. Schuester was worried. Sam seemed distracted lately—he was always texting on his phone or whispering and laughing while Mr. Schuester was talking, and the other day, he had even come late to practice!
Yes, Mr. Schuester was definitely worried, and so, he decided to ask Sam about his recent behaviour. Maybe things weren't going so well at home? Or maybe he was being bullied. But whatever was happening, Mr. Schuester was sure a visit to Emma would fix it all up.
"That was great, guys, keep up the good work!" he smiled. "That's enough for today. Go and get some rest, and I'll see you tomorrow!"
Laughing and waving, the teens started to leave.
"Hey, Sam!" Mr. Schuester called. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
Sam glanced at the doorway, then shrugged and came over to Mr. Schuester.
"What is it, Mr. Schue?" he asked. "I've got an…appointment, and I seriously can't be late."
Mr. Schuester smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry; this'll just take a few minutes."
"Oh, good," Sam said. "So, what is it?"
Mr. Schuester took a deep breath, wondering just how he should say what he wanted to say. "Sam," he began. "How are you?"
Sam looked bewildered. "Um…I'm great, Mr. Schue. Never been better, in fact. Why?"
"Well, you've seemed a little distracted, recently, and I was wondering if you needed someone to talk to, or something." Mr. Schuester tried to mask his surprise. "Are you sure everything's fine?"
Sam grinned. "Yeah. Everything's awesome."
There was the sound of someone clearing their throat. Sam's head whipped around and his grin grew wider when he saw who was at the door. Mr. Schuester turned his head and was shocked to see Kurt there, smiling back at Sam.
Sam looked back at Mr. Schuester. "Sorry, Mr. Schue, I gotta go. I promised Kurt ice-cream, and I don't want to be late."
Mr. Schuester was gaping, his mind a blank. Sam was dating Kurt?
Wait…what?
Sam said "Bye, Mr. Schue!" and quickly went over to Kurt. Slinging an arm over Kurt's shoulders, they walked away together, already smiling at each other.
"I want chocolate." Kurt's voice echoed faintly down the hall. "With sprinkles.
"Sure thing," came Sam's voice. "C'mon, I'm driving."
There was the sound of a door closing and then silence fell.
Meanwhile, Mr. Schuester was still standing in the same position, with his mouth opened in an 'o' of surprise, his eyes wide and staring at the spot were Sam and Kurt had been.
What? Sam and Kurt? Since when were they dating? Scratch that—since when was Sam gay? And how had he missed all this?
Mr. Schuester shook his head. He really needed to start paying more attention to the kids, not just the club.
He vaguely realized that he was still gaping and his hands had actually started to shake a bit. He needed to process the news; to let what had just happened sink in.
He supposed a visit to Emma's office was in order.
I have officially conquered my writer's block! Yay!
