TWO WEEKS AFTER IRONSIDE.

Kaye awoke to the ring of the phone.

She twisted onto her back, and reached across Roiben to the phone stand.

"Hello?"

Roiben was awake by now and was watching Kaye talk into the phone.

"Okay, bye." She finished.

"Who was that?" Whispered the Fairie King, his voice still groggy with sleep.

"Just Corny. What are we doing today?"

"I have a conference in a few hours, but then we could go out and walk around. I've been contemplating, and I believe I would like to get you a proper ring, since you are my consort now. You were raised as a human, and to my understanding, humans exchange rings to symbolize matrimony."

"Oh, no Roiben," Kaye protested. "I don't want you to spend money on me."

"You may not want to be spent on, but I want the ring to represent the mutual claim we now have on each other." Roiben smiled wickedly. "And the claim I now have on your virginity."

Roiben reached down and cupped her womanhood as Kaye giggled.
