"Ally? Can you please come to the living room? There's someone here that I want you to meet."
With a slight groan, I closed the book that I was reading and walked downstairs. As I got closer to the living room, the sound of laughter grew louder. I heard my mothers laugh, my sisters laugh, followed by another laugh that I've never quite heard before.
I casually walked into the living room and waited for someone to notice me waiting at the doorway. A few minutes passed and still nobody noticed me, so, being the sassy teenager I am, I cleared my throat and crossed my arms and continued to wait.
"ALL-oh, you're here." My mother smiled.
I rolled my eyes and threw my hands to my side. "Yeah. I've been standing here for about 3 minutes."
"Well why didn't you say anything?" My sister, Laura, asked.
I shrugged my shoulders and made my way to an empty seat. "I dunno. You guys seemed to be.. enjoying yourselves." I said, once I sat down and made myself comfortable.
"Well, I called you down here because I'd like you to meet someone." My mother moved her arm in front of her, pointing to some guy sitting next to my sister.
With a smile, he held out his hand in front of me for a shake and introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Austin."
Now, before I say anything else let me just tell you, this guy is fucking gorgeous! He's got these beautiful hazel eyes, messy dirty-blonde hair, plump pink lips, and a gorgeous smile that can seriously (not kidding) light up a room and considering how long his legs are when he's sitting, I can tell he's a pretty tall dude.
Politely shaking his hand, I flashed a smile and introduced myself. "I'm Ally." When our hands disconnected, I spoke again. "Who exactly are you?"
"He's my boyfriend." Laura replied. "We've been together for two years now."
"And your just now introducing me?" I asked.
"Austin used to live in Georgia, but recently we decided to move in together and we both agreed that here in Miami is a good place to live." She explained.
I pursed my lips and nodded my head, showing her that I understood.
I crossed my legs on the chair and then turned to Austin who happened to already be looking at me. "So Austin, what do you do?" I asked.
"I'm a music teacher." He said, "I actually just recently started teaching in Marino High, correct me if I'm wrong, but you attend that school don't you?"
"Used to. I actually just graduated a couple of months ago"
"No college?" He asked.
"Yes actually, but I don't necessarily start until the next couple of months."
"What's your major?"
"Um I'm thinking about majoring in Music, but my mother-." Shooting a glare in her direction, "Thinks its a stupid idea, so I think I'm just going to focus on mathematics."
"You like music too?"
With a small smile, I nodded "Yeah, ever since I was a little toddler."
"Same, my parents always said music was a waste of time too, but one day I proved them wrong." He said. "I got the opportunity to work with Jimmy Starr."
Suddenly becoming very interested in the conversation, I uncrossed my legs and leaned closer"The manager of Starr records?"
"Mhm." He nodded.
"W-what happened? Why aren't you making albums right now?"
He looked at my sister who was clearly bored with the conversation, and then he smiled. "Because I chose love."
"Awe." I heard in the background.
"I had just met your sister when all of this happened and Jimmy said if I wanted to continue working with him I'd have to drop Laura. Obviously I didn't do that and because I didn't listen to Jimmy he dropped me from the label. I haven't been able to work with him or any other record deal company since." He explained.
"Yeah, but you're like what? 24? You have lots of years ahead of you, you can find someone else, another company."
Austin chuckle a bit and smiled. "First of all I'm 21.
Second, Jimmy told a bunch of labels not to sign me."
Scoffing, "There is no way he called every single record company and told them not to sign you."
Austin shrugged his shoulders then put his arm around Laura. "Maybe, but maybe that was also a sign that it's just not my destiny to become a musician."
"Have you looked into new companies?"
"No, actually."
"Well how-."
Getting frustrated, Laura slapped her hands on her knees and interrupted the conversation "Okay guys can we please stop talking about this boring shit? It's making me tired."
Quite taken back by her sudden outburst, I raised up my eyebrows. "What's up with the bitch mood?"
Rolling her eyes, she turned back to Austin and wrapped herself around his body. He snaked his other arm around her and kissed her on her head, this action led to a kiss on the lips, and then they were having a full blown make out session.
Scrunching my face in disgust, I shook my head and turned to mom. "Gross. I'm going back upstairs."
"Gross is correct. I'm right behind you." And with that, together my mom and I left the living room. I went up to my room and my mother went into the kitchen to most likely prepare dinner.
As you can see, my sister clearly has no interest in my passion. Just like my mom, Laura thinks music is just some, and I quote, "stupid little kid dream". When we were younger Laura and I would always get into arguments about music. She said it was boring, I said it was fun. She said it's stupid, I said she's stupid. Frankly, I don't even know why her and Austin are even together. They obviously are not interested in the same things so, how? But I mean, I guess the saying is true after all"opposites attract..."
About half an hour later an unexpected knock was heard coming from my door. I turned my head to see who it was.
Leaning on the doorframe with a sheepish smile on his face, he gave me a small wave then crossed his arms. "Uh, your mom told me to that we're going out to dinner." Austin said. "Are you coming?"
"Umm.." I trailed off. "Do you know where she plans on going to eat?" I asked.
"She said something about a seafood restau-."
"Yeah I'll pass. I hate seafood." I turned back around and put my focus back onto the book I was reading before.
"Oh." He simply said, with a sound of... hurt? In his voice. With that, I heard his big footsteps walk away from the door, getting quieter and quieter the farther he got..
Just a little chapter.. let me know if you want me to continue this..
