Just a little one-shot based off of the incident at the Rio concert and the new pics of Nick Jonas. I'm not sure this is all that good, I wrote this at school in like 20 minutes, but anyways. Read it. Like it/Love it/Hate it. Review it. Thanks!

Miley stared out into the crowd. It was packed. She wondered why she hadn't come to South America before; the people sure did love her, unlike him. Her eyes glanced about, settling on one sign in particular. If you ask Nick he will stay. Tears formed in her eyes and she blinked them away quickly, not wanting to cry onstage. "That's the best fan sign I've ever seen," she said into the microphone. "It says 'If you ask Nick, he will stay'. It's not that easy." And it wasn't. She thought back to earlier that week, when she was talking to a certain mop-topped Jonas Brother on the phone.

"Nick?" she asked into the phone. She hoped she was there. She missed him.

"Miley? What do you want? I mean, I'm sorry. Why are you calling?" he tried again.

"I just wanted to say hi. I miss you. A lot. And…" her voice trailed off.

"And what?"

"I love you. I want you. I need you, Nicholas," she whispered into the phone, scared.

"Nick?" a high-pitched Australian voice giggled. "Come over here baby," the girl giggled again.

Tears formed in Miley's eyes. "Forget it," she said harshly. "I was going to ask you to stay, but I understand. I'm not important anymore," she said quickly before she hung up.

The superstar shook her head slightly. It was bad enough there were pictures of them out earlier today. She needed to forget about him. Forget about the memories. He didn't need her anymore, even though she needed him more than anything else in the world. "I see a lot of other signs out here. Radiate love, radiate love. That's awesome." The whole reason she had picked radiate love was because of him. It was her simple way to let him know she still loved him, even though distance and time threatened to tear them apart for good.

She went on. The show must go on, no matter how bad she felt or how much she wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. She hurried through 'Obsessed', but not without a few tears falling. Thankfully, her hair was in her face, so hardly anybody saw. They would know though. The 'Niley' fans, they always knew whenever something was going on. They had more faith in them than they did in themselves.

It was time for the next song. This one shouldn't be too hard to sing. The blue-eyed beauty whose eyes had lost their sparkle was angry, or at least tried to be. "You make me love you? Not really! Hahaha!" she forced out a laugh, trying to convince herself what she had just told the multitude of people. She knew it would be on the internet, but she didn't care.

There was one song she couldn't bring herself to sing. She couldn't sing 'Stay'. She had asked him, and he had given an answer even before he opened him mouth. The girl said it all. The pictures said it all. She didn't matter anymore. Out with the old, in with the new. She was old, needing to be discarded or thrown in the trash. Their memories were just dead rose petals floating on water.

It wasn't that easy. Nothing about their relationship had ever been easy, but nobody said it would be this hard. Or this painful. It wasn't that easy, she thought about the words she had spoken. Maybe it wasn't that easy, but it was worth it, at least to her.

She had asked him to stay.

But it wasn't that easy.
