The petite pink haired girl curled up on the bed sighed and set the letter on the table. "I can't do it." She said quietly. "Can't do what?" The sandy blonde sitting next to her asked. "Tsunade-sama sent me a letter informing me that Sasuke made parole today and that I should see him so I can finally let go of the bad memories of us together." Sakura replied. "So don't see him. It was a suggestion right? Well you don't have to do it." The blonde said. Sakura nodded. "It wasn't an order or anything." She agreed. "If you don't feel comfortable then don't go." The blonde reiterated. "Thanks Temari." Sakura smiled. "No problem." Temari replied.
"You'll never get over your fear if you don't confront it head on. It's not like Kiba will let Sasuke hurt you anyway." Sabaku no Kankuro said as he looked up from his book. "I've been scared of Sasuke for a long time. He nearly killed me on several occasions. I can't just forget about that and go put myself in harm's way again. If Kiba were here, I'd think about chancing it but I'm not stupid enough to go on my own. That would be inviting Sasuke to try something." Sakura replied.
"So if Kiba not being here is the only problem, why don't you just send Temari to rush him and Gaara and go see him with both of them?" Kankuro suggested. "I don't want to see him. I'm in no shape to even look at a picture of him. It's bad enough Tsunade-sama had to tell me he was free. If I wasn't tired as hell, I'd be in hysterics over the thought that he wasn't locked up tightly." Sakura replied. "This isn't healthy you know. Letting your fear rule you." Kankuro scolded the pinkette. Like he had done since Sakura had gotten together with Kiba. Finally.
"Piss off. If she doesn't want to see that bastard, she doesn't have to." A gruff voice snapped from the door. "Welcome home Kiba-kun." Sakura smiled at the dog trainer. "Hey. So Sasuke's out huh?" Inuzuka Kiba asked as he stepped into the room proper. "Yeah. Tsunade-sama sent me a letter." Sakura replied tiredly. "Figures. They'd rather let that bastard go free because he has that stupid jumped up eye thing than lock a predator up where he belongs." Kiba sneered. Sakura shrugged in what she hoped was nonchalance. "It doesn't matter. I'm not going near him so it's not an issue." She said. Kiba sighed as he sat down next to his pinkette and she laid her head in his lap. "I hate to say this because I feel like a traitor but Kankuro is kind of right. About you getting over your fear. But I know how hard it is for you to let go of that. I won't make you do anything you don't want to do but please consider what he said." He said. Sakura made a small noise of agreement as the radio played a familiar song.
Because I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough.
Because I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away.
Sakura smiled. It was ironic that the radio was playing what she thought of as their song while they were talking about the man that actually brought them together. The pinkette allowed herself to go down memory land and relive that painful night again since she knew it led to a happy ending for her and the one she loved.
Here's Chapter One reloaded. I know it's vastly different from what I originally posted but I hope it's better and people like it more.
