Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest, the shadows
I live with are numberless
Sasuke sat, surrounded by the wreckage of the Uchiha clan's secret meeting place. Itachi was dead, his goals all accomplished, he should be feeling happy, or at least contented, but instead he was sitting next to his dead brother whom he had realized too late was the only person he had ever truly loved.
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
Sorrow has taken you
Part of him was in shock, surely Itachi couldn't be dead, after he had haunted Sasuke's every waking thought and many of his dreams for so long. He looked over at Itachi's still form, hoping beyond hope that he was just playing dead, and would get up any moment and poke his forehead again and call him foolish.
Angels have no thoughts
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?
But Itachi remained still, his long dark hair haloing his pale face, beauteous in death as he was in life. Sasuke's eyes burned as he remembered how soft that hair was, and for the first time in a very long time he felt regret. Itachi, his only reason for living, was gone.
Gloomy Sunday
He choked back a sob, keeping his face carefully blank, even though there was no one to see the tears as they streamed disobediently but silently down his face.
Gloomy is Sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
There was intense, burning pain in his chest, where his heart should be, would have been if it hadn't been stolen by his own brother so many years ago, without him even realizing it. And now his heart lay dead on the ground beside him.
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
But let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Sasuke realized that he was also dead, his body just kept breathing. That would soon end, though. For the first time in years he prayed to the gods he had learnt of as a child, asking that he be allowed to follow Itachi to wherever his beloved would go.
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressing you
With the last breath of my soul
Ill be blessing you
He laid down next to Itachi and closed his eyes, he felt himself going numb and smiled, he didn't even bother panicking when he felt his heart-rate begin to fluctuate as he coded. Things would be better now, because, he realized, he had always been fated to follow Itachi.
Gloomy Sunday
End.
Coding is the elevated heart-rate seen in people right before they die, it is also known as cardiac arrest, usually when it happens they try to defibulate the person and shock their heart back to beating properly and thusly bask to life.
The song is 'Gloomy Sunday' by Billie Holliday; if listening to this song fails to depress you then you have no heart.
Written in honor of the Uchiha fight.
R&R, if you please!
Flames will be danced around naked in an attempt to summon the Kyuubi.
