Gotc: I'm not entirely sure how I came up with this particular idea, but I really hope everyone likes it! IT takes place during Comfort and Joy, since we know Batman was on monitor duty, but Wonder Woman wasn't even mentioned. So this is my idea of what should have happened, and put to the poem of "Twas' the Night Before Christmas". I don't own any member of the League, nor the poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas, but I hope you enjoy my take on it anyway! Enjoy!

-------

Twas' the Knight Before Christmas

Twas' the night before Christmas, and all through the Tower

A single Bat lurked at such a late hour.

Scanning each monitor with the greatest of care,

So that none of his comrades would be caught unaware

Most had made plans with holiday glee

Only the Batman had kept this day free.

And so there he sat in the Monitor Womb

While a gentle snow fell cross his dead parents' tomb

He wished there was some way he could simply forget

But the sound of that gunshot left remorse and regret.

So instead of enjoying his Christmas at home,

He preferred to spend the whole season alone.

Some understood, but others would ask

And he would explain with an expressionless mask:

"Because this is the night my life came to an end,

Now if you'll please excuse me, I have business to attend"

Now soft footsteps his ears had detected,

Belonging to the last person that he had expected.

As it turns out, not all could go home,

And two on the tower were spending Christmas alone.

"You know I thought I might find you up here,

I brought some us some coffee and holiday cheer."

He knew that voice well, he didn't have to guess

He now shared room with the Amazon princess.

It took all of his will not to laugh then and there

As his eyes fell upon what was on top of her hair

A red Santa hat with a fluffy white ball

Along with a sweater that said "Merry Christmas to all!"

"I'm doing just fine, you should go have some fun,

My shift won't be over till well after one."

The Bat cast a glance up and caught her blue eyes

And saw something there she was trying hard to disguise.

"I know but isn't it custom for Christmas eve

To spend time with loved ones, I do believe"

"Diana," He sighed, trying not to be mean,

"Please drop this act and just come out clean.

I know why you're here, and it will never work out.

Our jobs are hard enough without love to think about."

He turned away, going back to his work,

Knowing full well that his words must have hurt.

But instead of leaving, Diana moved nearer,

Making difficult for him to think clearer.

"I know all your reasons, I've heard them before,

But Bruce, don't you think we could be something more?

You work in the Shadows, and hide from the light,

Have you truly forgotten when something feels right?"

She reached up to rest a hand on his cheek,

She almost expected for him to just freak.

But instead with the utmost of care,

He reached up to make sure she kept her hand there.

With a sweep of his hand, he pushed his cowl back

Exposing blue eyes, and hair sleek and black.

"I'll only hurt you," He said with a sigh.

"I'm still willing to give this a try."

And them to her heart's greatest delight,

She found herself swept into the arms of the Dark Knight.

His lips pressed to hers, so soft and so kind

Fulfilling the desires of a long tortured mind.

And with the thought her quest had not been in vain,

She looked deep in his eyes and said "Merry Christmas, Bruce Wayne."
