By the Light of the Moon
Chapter 1
Snowtail heard the sound of three strong heartbeats emminating from her three kits. She looked at each one, her heart swelling with pride. Lionkit, the largest tom, was light orange with fur fuffled around his neck that looked like a lion's mane and white paws. Stormkit, the only other tom, was pure white except for one half of his face and his tail, which were both black. And finally, Amberkit, the only she-cat, she was dark grey with touches of amber on her tail, ears, and paws. Nightpelt padded into the nursery and quiered, "How are the kits?" "They are doing well", replied Snowtail. Snowtail was a young she-cat who was as white as the pure leaf-bare snow. Nightpelt was a strong tom warrior who was black with a big grey patch on his back. Amberkit started to shake from the cold and Snowtail pulled her closer, trying to keep her warm. Sunstar padded in. "Good morning Snowtail, I suspect that the kits are ready to venture out of the nursery since they are already one moon old?" "Yes, I believe they are considering the fact that they have all be wiggling out of their pelts waiting for it" she said in an amused tone. Suddenly, Lionkit and Stormkit awoke from they're long slumber and began to stretch. Snowtail decided to wake up Amberkit so that she could eat. Nightpelt walked up to his only female kit and asked, "Do you want a mouse from the fresh kill pile Amberkit?" he asked. "Yes, father and thank you." Nightpelt trotted away towards the fresh kill pile to get some prey. "Would you like to go see Moonhigh's new kits?" Snowtail asked her kits. "Yes please." replied Lionkit and Stormkit. "Be careful with them" said Sunstar, "They are only one day old." The two brothers happily galloped along to go meet their newborn cousins and see their aunt. Then, Amberkit suddenly had a huge coughing fit. "Oh no!" said Sunstar, "Go get her to Stonetail quickly!"
