Elle was cuddling with Claire on her sofa while watching some movie on Netflix.
By the time the movie finished, Claire had fallen asleep on Elle.
"Claire, Claire, wake up" Elle said nudging the younger girl.
"What?" Claire asked with her eyes half open and half closed.
"You fell asleep Claire - bear " Elle said gently and took one of Claire's hands in
hers . "Sorry" Claire muttered falling asleep again.
Just then Sandra came into the living room. "Claire honey" she said.
"Don't bother" Elle said " She's sound asleep" Elle continued as she stroked
Claire's head. "Oh" Sandra said surprised. On most nights Claire struggled to get to
sleep but maybe there was just something about Elle. After about a minute Elle spoke
up. "I guess I should get going" Elle said and started to get up but Claire just
tightened her arms around Elle's waist, silently asking her to stay.
"You can stay if you want" Sandra said " I mean Claire obviously wants you to" she
said and gestured to her daughter.
"That would be nice" Elle said with a smile.
"I'll get you two a blanket" Sandra said.
"Thanks" Elle said and smiled as Sandra left the room.
Just then Lyle entered talking to one of his friends on speaker phone.
"Shh" Sandra said.
"What?"Lyle asked holding the phone to his chest.
"Your sister is trying to sleep" Sandra said quietly.
"What with Elle" Lyle asked with a smirk.
"Not funny " Sandra said as she continued looking for a blanket for the two girls.
"Your sister's in love Lyle. Its nice" Sandra said sympathetically.
Lyle shrugged.
"Okay, fine. You mister remember this conversation when you fall in love alright" Sandra
said as she finally found a blanket.
"Alright mum, love you" Lyle said.
"Love you too honey . Now go up to your room"Sandra said.
"Night " Lyle said as he started to go up the stairs.
"Night Lyle" Sandra said as silently as she could as she re-entered the living room
with the blanket.
"Thanks" Elle said as she took the blanket and covered her and Claire up with it.
"No problem" Sandra said.
Five minutes later, just as Elle was drifting off to sleep, Claire woke up.
"Elle" Claire said sleepily.
"Yes" Elle answered as she looked down into her girlfriend's eyes.
"Are you gonna stay with me tonight?" Claire asked as Elle, on most nights, would
have left by now.
"Yes" Elle answered with a smile and pressed a small kiss to Claire's lips.
"Thats nice" Claire said as she was drifting of to sleep.
"I love you Claire - bear " Elle whispered.
"I love you too" Claire whispered back.
And with that they both fell asleep.
It was funny because neither Claire nor Elle could remember the last time they felt
this happy.
Claire always said she felt safe in Elle's arms and now Elle could say the same.
