Mask
By Keiko Hidaka
A note from the author: This is another thing I wrote a long time ago... but didn't post until I found it (five months later ^_^;;;;). I wrote this about my best friend, she acts like a female Hisoka... and I, like a female Tsuzuki ^_^. Okay, enough of my rambling...
Disclaimer: I do not own Yami no Matsuei.... *sniffle * or any of its characters... *sobs*
I've watched you
Try to be brave
Bite back tears
Hold back cries of despair
Pretend it doesn't hurt
I've seen you hide it
Behind the mask
The wretched mask
That hides your scars
Your bruised and cut heart
Though others cant see behind the mask
I can
I see the frightened child
Who takes refuge in the shadows
Under the luminescent crimson moon
The little child is alone
And believes it always will;
I reach out to the child
With open arms
Understanding
Though it's not much
It's all I can give
You often deny my touch
Not wanting to get too close
Pushing away the rush of emotions
Disregarding my smiles
I don't care
They are all for you
Sometimes I see the paint on the mask chip
And a glimmer from within shines through
But that glimmer is hastily covered up
When I feel it getting hard to smile
I think of you
How much I care for you
Then the pain is easier to bear
I just wish I could tell you
I am here to protect you
From bad dreams
From monsters in the dark
My arms are open
Waiting for you
I know
One day you will come running
Into my embrace
And take off your mask
Then I will see you
