Really quick one shot in an AU where Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic and Merlin has to pretend that he has betrayed Camelot because if he tells what has actually happened, he has been cursed to lose the ones he loves most. He has been imprisioned and tortured for information about Morganna and what he has done to 'betray' Camelot by the ones he used to call friends and brothers; but Merlin cannot reveal himself until he finds Morgana and rids the world of her so he can be free from his destiny.Comment and Review. As Merlin stood there he watched as Morganna fell to the ground. He had finally done it. He was finally free from his blasted destiny.
He was free of Arthur and the knights.
He was freed from feeling their glares at his supposed treachery.
He was free of his heavy heart laden with the knowledge that his friends had all abandoned him.
He was free from the hurt that came with their harsh words and blows meant to take down men much larger than himself.
Free from his own minds torment.
Free from his unwanted guilt.
Free from his memories filled with loss and lies.
Free from any responsibility he had no strength to carry anymore.
Free from the ache that had settled deep in his bones and mind.
Free from life.
He picked up the blade that Morganna had dropped and aimed it at his own chest with a tired grin and with a single tear falling from his eye.
Free at last.
He used all his remaining strength to propel the blade towards his own beating heart.
He closed his eyes.
