Six Years Wait…
I woke up with a fright. Rain hammered off the windows and I heard the deafening sound of thunder outside. I heard a knock on the window, I froze with fear. The silhouette of a person showed behind the curtain. 'Alohamora.' I heard the person mutter, and then they climbed in my bedroom window.
I grabbed my wand and as a second thought, my bedside lamp. Then I saw the trademark, messy, black hair. I put down my weapons and grabbed him viciously by the ear. 'Ow, ow, let go!' He said.
I did, and then I punched him. He was soaking wet and his glasses were steamed up. James looked at me reproachfully as he cleaned his glasses. 'That punch hurt,' he said. 'What the hell are you doing in my bedroom? You live miles away, and it's raining you idiot!' I looked at the clock as I yelled: it was ten minutes past midnight.
My parents had went out to dinner and left me in the house on my own, while they stayed in a posh London hotel. Petunia, my lovely sister had spent the night with her pet whale, Vernon.
'It's the middle of the night!' I continued to yell. He put his hand over my mouth, 'Happy Birthday.' He said. I froze as though he had just petrificus totalus'ed me. 'You did all this for my birthday?' I screamed at him. 'You could have killed yourself! Or you could have been seen!' He was shivering with a mixture of fear and cold.
I took my wand out so I could dry him off, as today was my seventeenth birthday so I was legally aloud to use magic, but he backed away looking scared. 'Just because your allowed to use magic now, doesn't mean you should hex me straight away. You should wait for the train, that way you won't get my blood on your lovely carpet. And then I can fight back.' He rambled nervously.
I laughed and dried him off. 'I wasn't trying to hex you yet.' He flinched at the 'yet' but moved forwards, relaxing slightly when I put down my wand. 'Happy Birthday,' he repeated as he passed me a small parcel. 'You didn't have to get me anything.' I said but he ignored me, as usual.
I opened the present slowly, saving the beautiful wrapping paper. There was an even smaller box in that. I opened it. There was a beautiful gold locket inside. The locket was in the shape of a heart, and on the font was engraved, 'My bounty is as boundless as the sea. My love as deep.' And on the back, 'The more I give to thee, the more I have. For both are infinite.'
My eyes welled up with tears. I picked up the delicate chain and tried to put it on my neck. James took it from me and fastened the chain for me. I looked at him and tried to say thank you, but the words failed me. I grabbed him and pulled him to me.
My lips found his and I put all my emotion into the kiss. He kissed me back gently and my legs wobbled. He pulled away and smiled. 'That was well worth the six years wait.' He said. My lips were tingling as I reached up and kissed him again.
Authors note: First of all, I know it's really short but it was just an idea I came up with in Irish class one day. And it's my first Lily/James....so yeah... :) I hope you all like it. And it is rated 'T' because I'm paranoid. Thanks for reading.
Disclaimer: The quote on the locket belongs to William Shakspeare, from the play Romeo and Juliet. I am honoured if you think I am talented enough to think it up myself. And the characters are from the masterpiece: Harry Potter, by the coolest, smartest, awesomest person in the world : J.K Rowling. I myself own nothing but the plot because I am not as creative as the two geniuses mentioned before.
Please R/R :)
