Title: No Threat
Disclaimer: I don't own Bones- no bones about it! (Rimshot...)
Author's Note: No matter how you feel about her, Cam is a really interesting character. This is just a little exploration of her feelings about Booth and Brennan's partnership. Set before she and Booth split, of course. One-shot.

Dr. Camille Saroyan is not blind. If she were blind, she would not have been able to propel herself to her current position at the top of her field, one that requires such careful observation in all of the nuances of human flesh. She is not blind to lacerations, bruising, or pooled blood, and she is definitely not blind to the glances Angela Montenegro has been giving her every time Dr. Temperance Brennan and Agent Seeley Booth are in the same room.
Angela, of course, is the quintessential best friend, and, as her title implies, wants the best for her friend. Camille slides her eyes back to Booth. Obviously, he's Angela's definition of what's 'best' for Brennan. Obviously, Booth and Brennan have some chemistry. And most obviously of all, at least for Cam, is that Angela suspects that she harbors jealousy towards Brennan for her relationship with Booth. Jealousy and suspicion.
She could laugh. Honestly.
Any woman gets defensive of her man when she views a potential threat in the form of another woman. Dr. Brennan is smart and beautiful, but she is also a fool. Seeley Booth is intuitive and impulsive, but he is also apprehensive, Cam knows. Even if they were attracted romantically, Brennan would deny her feelings with every ounce of logic she possessed, and Booth would wait for thousands of years before doing anything about it.
That's why she and Booth work, Cam reflects. She is smart and beautiful, too, but she has the common sense to know a good thing when she sees it. She has no fear of commitment, doesn't objectify everything, and doesn't flee when the emotional stakes rise too high.
And that is why Dr. Temperance Brennan poses no threat to her.
