RATING: PG
SUMMARY: What Neela really focuses on when someone's life is at stake. ;)
DISCLAIMER: I don't own these lovely characters and don't make any money off of this.
CATEGORY: Neela/Kovac UST, 155-word drabble.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: They are my two favorite characters, and after watching "Only Connect" it seemed natural that I should 'ship them. Besides, I totally identified with Neela. :sniffle: So don't crucify me, please.
This could be dangerous.
The last thing she should be watching while tubing a GSW is the attending doctor, however gorgeous he is. She shouldn't be surveying the smooth planes of his face or imagining that aquiline nose brushing against hers. Nor should she memorize and catalogue his facial expressions or relish the sound of his accent as it ripples over her ear drums. She shouldn't be estimating the diameter of his large, dark pupils or calling to mind one of many fantasies involving a gurney, a hospital gown, and her tall, dark, and incredibly handsome superior.
What Neela's doing isn't standard procedure.
The tube's in. She bags the patient, pumps air into his lungs. She watches as Kovac conducts resident, nurse, and student alike around the patient.
Suddenly, his eyes meet hers. She's frozen, a deer in the headlights. Eons pass. He looks away.
They both know it now. This could definitely be dangerous.
