Glasses
by Carlson
Gohan didn't know much about Tien Shinhan. He knew that he had once defeated his father in battle, if only by a technicality. He knew that he was a former World Martial Arts Tournament champion. He knew that he had a third eye for some unexplained reason. He knew that he had been trained under Master Shen. He knew that his best friend was Chiaotzu.
He also knew that he developed and used the Solar Flare. He knew this very well.
The scholar looked in the mirror, a sour expression on his face. He tried to focus his vision on the image in front of him, but he failed. Sighing, he reluctantly placed a pair of spectacles upon the bridge of his nose. Seeing the thick glasses rimming his eyes, he thought back to when he was able to peer into the mirror and see himself with great clarity. He was sorry to say that he was unable to do so now.
Gohan couldn't help but be brought back to when he had lost much of his seeing ability.
Tien knows he cannot defeat the teenager as he is now. He has to get an edge on him. Dodging Gohan's intense attacks, a thought pops into his mind. He flashes back to his fight with Jacky Chun (or Master Roshi, as he later found out). A smirk appears on the tryclops's face. He brings his hands up to his face and spreads out his fingers in front of his forehead. He closes his eyes (all of them) and yells, "SOLAR FLARE!"
The sparring area is covered in a severe white light. The onlookers cover their eyes and look away. Gohan, however, was too late to shelter himself from the blast, and his eyeballs are damaged.
It had started as an innocent spar. It had ended as a horrible accident.
The fighter glares at the mirror, narrowing his eyes. He removes the glasses from his face quickly, replacing them after only a second or two. His vision has not spontaneously healed. Scowling for only a moment longer, Gohan turns fiercely away from the reflective glass and storms out of the bathroom. Tien was going to pay.
Oh yes, he was going to pay dearly.
If only he hadn't run off immediately after seeing what he had done, and how incredibly pissed the teenager was.
A/N: I always wondered... how did Gohan come across needing glasses...? I was watching Tien vs. Jacky Chun yesterday and this came to mind. Oh, and I know Tien had run off after Cell Games, but since he helped against Majin Buu, I kind of figured, you know... he wanted to stick around for a little bit? I don't know. He wanted to see how strong Gohan was or something like that. So, they sparred. I guess.
