A Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Story
Author's Note: I do not own Fire Emblem. This is the story of how I think Radiant Dawn should have ended. I found it a little disappointing how Ike just left after helping to save Tellius.
In the bowels of Castle Crimea, Ike sat in his lounge chair, thinking. Three months had passed since the War of the Goddess, and all should have been well. Yet somehow, there was a growing dissatisfaction in the pit of his stomach. Sure, everything should have been okay. The Royal Crimean Military Academy, which he founded with the Greil Mercenaries, was running smoothly. There was hardly a skirmish between the two races of Beorc and Laguz. All was well.
And yet something bothered him.
Perhaps I have been too consumed with my work, he thought. I haven't really done much for anyone but myself. What was it his father said when he was a little boy? Ike dug through the recesses of his mind to see if he could remember.
People are truly happy when they are serving others.
Ike took his father's advice to heart. He needed to serve somebody.
Whom could Ike serve? Everyone seemed content as they were. Rolf and Shinon were teaching Archery at the Academy; Mia was traveling searching for her 'ultimate rival'; Elincia-
Elincia.
Ike smiled. He had known the young Queen of Crimea for nearly four years. She and Ike shared a rather special, if not romantic, bond. Ike would often remember fondly the day he rescued her from Daein soldiers in the forests of Crimea. Those were the days, he thought. The days of brave knights and princesses fair. Now he was simply Captain of the Royal Guard.
Then, he remembered something important. The Coronation.
Elincia's Twenty-First birthday was coming up, which also served as the official date she would no longer need her uncle and Prince Regent, Renning. The day she really became Queen. What can I do to serve her?
He thought for a moment, when it struck him on the head. I could... She and Ike had been dating since the Mad King's War, and even though her royal duties always seemed to get in the way, there relationship seemed to blossom like a Rose. Yeah. It was high time in Ike's mind that he got married. Who better than his best friend (next to Soren) and the Queen of Crimea?
Then again, there was Geoffrey. Elincia's ex-Captain of the Guard (Ike had recently been promoted to that position) had practically known her since she was an infant. Ike knew how close they were; they were nearly as close as Elincia and Lucia. A tiny flame of jealousy was kindled in his heart. Sure, he had grown closer to her, too. But there was something about Geoffrey he didn't like. Despite his devotion to duty, there was a sort of vain, arrogant smugness that accompanied his position as Captain of the Guard. Knowing Geoffrey, he'll do anything to get his old position -close to Elincia- back. Geoffrey had recently been demoted due to a small massacre of Laguz on the border of Gallia.
Ike put himself to bed, knowing that on the morrow, he had a very important task to complete. Tomorrow, he thought, I'm going to propose to her.
