A Fresh Start

Chapter One: We Live On

Takes place at the end of "Aftershock: Part Two"

Starfire gently laid the flowers at the feet of Terra. Her green eyes filled with tears. Robin gently put a hand on her shoulder as she cried, then looked towards Beast Boy.

Beast Boy was gazing into space, a fixed look on his face. His eyes were swollen from crying every night, and he had stopped eating.

"C'mon, Beast Boy. I'll race you in game station." Cyborg murmured, but it was a useless request. Cyborg had suggested it many times since the 'death' of Terra, but the words fell upon deaf ears.

"We'll find a way to bring her back, Beast Boy. We'll bring her back. I promise." Robin told the green elf. He hoped it would help his friend, fill him with hope. Instead, an angry look crossed Beast Boy's face.

"Robin-" He began, but was cut off.

"Even if we bring her back, she will still be our enemy! Terra was a traitor! She helped us battle Slade, then turned us in to him! What if she does the same thing, just to another villain? What then, Robin? She's too insecure! She deserved to die!" Raven yelled, her eyes glowing red.

Everyone looked at her in stunned silence. Starfire stopped crying and Robin and Cyborg's mouths dropped. Beast Boy no longer retained a vacant look, but one of pure surprise.

"Friend Raven, no one deserves to die. No one should die that young." Starfire recovered first.

"Star's right, Terra was our friend, Raven. Just because you have issues with her doesn't mean you should wish death on her." Cyborg said.

"All of you are idiots! So caught up in her lies and deceptions that you forget who she is and what she did to us!" Raven screamed those last words, her anger building.

Cyborg watched Beast Boy carefully. The shape-shifter had an unmistakable look of anger on his face. "Cool it, Rae."

"Please, settle down!" Starfire begged.

"Well, Raven. Anything else? Because if you're done, I want you to get back to the Tower and settle down!" Robin growled, saying it as an order rather than a request.

"No, Robin, I'm not done! Pull yourselves together! You even said it yourself, Robin! 'We take her down, like another villain.' Even you were smart enough to see she was our enemy! For God's sake, she tried to kill us!"

"Shut up, Raven. Terra was better than you. You're the one who hides behind your cloak. You're the one who hides the truth from us! You're the one we don't know anything about! You're the one who has anger issues! You're the one who's a demon!" Beast Boy's words struck Raven like poison. The others were speechless at his words, he hadn't spoken in days.

Raven stood there, and tears formed in her eyes. "Beast Boy…she's dead. We live on. Not her. Us."

"You don't know anything! She's not dead." Beast Boy seemed to say the words hopefully, as if by saying them, they would be true.

"Fine. You want her, have her. I'm leaving." Raven turned away so the others wouldn't see her crying. "Goodbye, Beast Boy."

"NO! Not before I see what you hide under that cloak! What you hide from us and Terra!" Beast Boy snarled as he pulled back Raven's cloak.

Starfire gasped. Robin and Cyborg recoiled in horror.

"Oh my God…" Beast Boy muttered.

Raven stood there crying, her eyes full of shame. All over Raven's arms, chest, and stomach were cuts. Some deep, some shallow. Some were symbols or words, others just cuts.

Raven was a Cutter.

Do you like it? It's a little emotional and kind of a rocky start, but I'll try to make it better. Please review!
