Chapter 1: Justin's note
Hey Alex.
This is Justin and I've decided that it's time to let you know this.
Call me a coward, but I didn't have the guts to tell you this while I was still in the house,
and now that I'm away to Romania for college,
I can finally say this.
You've really grown, Alex.
Yeah, you're still Dad's little girl, but you've grown up.
I mean, look, I can safely go off no without worrying that you'll blow up the house
or accidentally change Mom and Dad into guinea pigs (Please don't ever do that again, chasing after them was terrible.)
But you've really changed. You're now using magic for less selfish purposes and less for yourself,
like how you got Zeke's pet chicken down from that tree.
Even though frankly I could have just climbed up that huge tree and gotten it down.
And even though you did end up scaring off his chicken and it ran away in the end.
But still, compare that to the girl who made a barking duplicate of herself just to go to the crazy ten minute sale,
it's a big achievement already.
Now you're a level 3 wizard again, and you have a decent chance of winning the competition.
But the truth is, Alex, I miss your recklessness and I miss having to clean up your mess all the time.
Now that you're all grown up, and that I'm going to Romania, there feels like something's missing inside of me.
I can't bring myself to call you my little sister anymore because you aren't little anymore.
And I can't protect you as your big brother anymore.
You helped me get over Juliet, over Rosie and I helped you get over Dean and Mason.
Now I guess we're both on our own huh?
As much as it pains me to say this, it's time for you to strike out on your own.
But, take a tip from me. Don't ever be a monster hunter. Don't.
Oh look, now you've made me all sappy. Do not show this to anyone, Alex. Do not.
But, oh look at you. I'm proud of you little sister.
Forget what I just said. You'll always be my little sis in my heart.
When I see you again, it'll be 4 years from now, and you'll be in your twenties already!
One last thing before I end, Alex I have one little gift for you.
Hold your breath, hold it. Okay, I've decided to…
quit the wizard competition.
Yes, you heard me right, I'm giving up the chance of becoming the family wizard.
I can easily get a career even without magic, but you?
You and magic just can't be torn apart.
Even though you're one of the most irresponsible wizard of all time, you always came through in the end.
Good luck my little sis, win the competition Alex,
I can't imagine Max with the magic (one uncle Kelbo in our family is bad enough).
Tell Dad that my wand's under the gargoyle in the lair.
I've known right from the start of our training that this will be the final step. That I'll give it up for you, sis.
Okay, now I've really got to go, the plane to Romania's leaving in two hours and I still can't find my suitcase!

Okay, nevermind, I'll find it somehow. For now, I guess this is goodbye.
