A/N. I decided to turn one of my drabbles from my story "Little Moments" and turn it into a one-shot.
-Last Name-
Fang turned to the next page of the cheap paperback novel he was reading. It was interesting enough; it was about two orphaned brothers who ran away from their cruel aunt and uncle who wanted to take away the younger brother. They flee to Italy where they meet a band of homeless, orphaned kids like themselves and they live in an abandoned movie theater where they are taken care of by a mysterious boy.
Fang tensed suddenly. He felt someone approaching him and he looked up to see someone walking up to him. A pang of disappointment hit him as he realized that it wasn't Max but Angel instead.
"Fang?" she asked him, her eyes all wide and innocent.
"Yeah," he said.
"I was wondering why don't you have a last name?" Angel asked curiously.
Fang felt the corner of his mouth twitch up. "Well," he said picking up the six year old and put her on his lap, "When I grow up and get married, I don't want my future wife to be to take on some lame last name that I can think of since she already had the perfect last name," he explained to her.
Angel considered this for a moment. "How do you know her last name's perfect already? Have you met her yet?"
Fang nodded. "I've met her alright, I know her better than she knows herself probably. Her last name's perfect, there are no two other words to describe her."
"How can you be sure she's the one?" she pressed on.
Fang paused, unsure how to answer the question. He did know for sure but he wasn't sure how to explain it to a six year old. "I'm sure because when I see her, I know it's her face I want to see for the rest of my life, the face I want to see when I wake up in the morning, the face I want to eat breakfast with, the face I want to see every night before bed. I know because when I talk to her, I know she's the only one who gets me and I get her. I just know, like I know my left and right, and my up and down," he told her.
Angel smiled; she liked how Fang talked more openly to her since she was still a little kid. Everyone was more open and stuff with her.
"How do you know you'll get married though? It's an awful long ways away," she pointed out.
"Yes," Fang conceded the point, "but I love her and someday, whether she knows it or not, she will too."
Angel nodded, satisfied before walking away.
"Maybe she already does," she whispered once he was out of earshot.
"Maybe who already does?" Max smiled at Angel as she ruffled her curls.
Angel looked up and smiled, "Nothing, never mind."
A/N. How was it? I know Fang was a little OOC but I figured he wouldn't be all silent and rock-ish around Angel since she's just a little kid. Hope you enjoyed and leave a review!
