A/N: Just a little something I couldn't get out of my head... review?
Behind me, Nancy Bobofit mumbled to a friend, "Like we're going to use this in real life. Like it's going to say on our job applications, 'Please explain why Kronos ate his kids.'"
-Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
It was a windy day in Manhattan as I made my way through the crowded streets towards my apartment building. I had just been to pick up a bunch of job applications. The guy who had given them to me was middle-aged with curly salt-and-pepper hair. His phone had a symbol on it I'd never seen before: two snakes twisting around a pole with angel wings at the top. He had a sly grin that made me doubt my intentions to get my applications. Instead, I wanted to go home without them.
But being myself, I wasn't scared of anyone… well except that creepy kid I went to school with. It was like he could control water, even though later I thought I was imagining it, I knew he had pulled me into that fountain. So I was only scared of that kid's freaky powers, not the actual kid himself.
The applications were tucked securely under my arm as I reached my building and made my way inside. I pulled out the first application to give it a quick read over as I made my way to my door. I was scanning the first page, and I flipped over to the second page as I shoved my key in the lock. I froze suddenly, as I reached a question at the bottom of the second page. I skipped to the next job application, still stood outside of my door. I scanned through the second one quicker than the first, my eyes wide as I saw the same question on the second application:
Please explain why Kronos ate his kids.
