Not so Golden
Chapter one:
It was a cold night in October. The sun had set and the owls had began their nightly rituals. In a small room of a large house, a young man lay asleep oblivious to his surrounding. As the minutes ticked away to midnight this parents stood outside waiting, watching.
Suddenly the boy was screaming – pain tore through his every limb. He felt as though he was on fire. His eyes flew open to reveal glowing silver irises tinged with specks of blood red. They spoke volumes, pain and fear fleeting through like leave caught in a gale.
The sound of screams mingled with the sound of tearing flesh and muscle as wings began to protrude from his back. Misery washed through him as the pain to abate. Dimly aware of his mother and father cautiously entering the room, he allowed himself to be pulled into unconsciousness.

Miles away a similar experience was happening to another boy, but he had no idea what was happening nor did he have relatives that cared…… His screams tore through the occupants of the house making the hairs on the back of their necks stand to attention. The child's uncle kicked down the door breaking the locking mechanism and causing the cheep plywood to meet the drywall with a deafening bang. Yet, even this was enough to start the boy out of his pain induced state. Overcome with rage and desperation the man roughly grabbed his nephew and threw him against the wall. Having the effect he desired, the boy was now unconscious, slumped against the wall, the screaming had stopped for now. Heavy panting punctuated the silence as the man calmed, making up his mind he made his way down into the kitchen to dig out the large bin liners. As he climbed back up the stairway he paused gathering all his resolve for what he was about to do. All the while his wife and son looked on, uncaring and unconcerned by what they were about to witness.
