A/N: I don't own anything. Including Professor Layton.
...I don't even own the muffin man. D:
Professor Hershel Layton slowly pushed the door to his brown-stone home open, placing his trademark brown top hat two places above Luke's trademark blue cap, sliding out of his shoes and placing them on the ground to the right of the hat-rack, next to Luke's and Flora's. The newest addition to their household had been with the pair for six months now, and during the small time, Layton and Luke had both gotten to know the 'Golden Apple' well, as she had them.
Layton softly made his way towards the kitchen/dining room area "Luke? Flora?" the man asked, before scurrying could be heard in the Kitchen area, smiling to himself, Layton pushed open the Dining Room door, coming face to face with his Apprentice and his newly Adopted Daughter, both of whom turned to face the older, much taller male with curious, questioning looks "Professor..?" Flora asked, as Layton made his way to his usual seat at the 6-person table. "Yes, Flora? How might I be of help?" the Professor asked in return, turning his gaze to the just-turned-teen girl.
Layton expected something like 'Would you like some tea?' or at worst 'We lost some of your puzzles', so, when the question actually came, Professor Layton almost chocked on air. He had expected a question like this at some point, of course. But, this exact question wasn't one of them. "Pardon?" the Professor asked, making sure he heard the girl correctly.
"I was wondering, if.. if it's okay with you! That I officially became a member, of the Layton family.." the girl repeated softly, nibbling on her lower lip quietly, expecting the answer of 'No' or something to a similar effect. "Why would you want to do that, Flora?" the Professor had asked, raising a eyebrow curiously. Flora shuffled "B-because you've done so much for me Professor! I-I know I've only been here six months! But, you've allowed me into your home and treated me like family since the moment we met! I just want to make it official.." the girl replied, she felt small tears well up in her eyes, what for, she didn't know, however they were there, none-the-less.
Professor Layton sat quietly through the explanation, before smiling his usual smile "Well then, how can I refuse the request, of a beautiful lady?" the older male replied. Flora made a surprised squeaking sound, before wrapping her arms around her newly-appointed father "Thank you Prof--Father!" the girl replied, grinning.
Layton then went slightly wide-eyed, realizing what he had got himself into. As he had mentioned earlier, Flora was quite a beautiful young lady and would continue to be so, even get more beautiful as she grew into an adult. The Professor was also wise enough to know Luke had also noticed this by the blushes and looks the boy would sometimes give Flora.
...Layton would have to keep his eye on the boy, after all. That. Was a father's duty.
A/N: Meh. That was like. Really short. But. I love the idea. And so. It t'was created!
