Recollection of a Nightmare

The tears and their screams,
The smoke all around,
Women and children harmed,
Buildings burnt to the ground,

He attempts to awaken,
From this cursed vision of the past,
The dreaded shroud envelopes him,
Presenting him no reprieve to last,

Faces betrayed,
As truths are revealed,
This innocent soul,
Can but only grieve,

The blood on his sword,
Has now tarnished his heart,
He cannot forget it,
The place he left behind,

The burning and crying,
Still echoes in his mind,
His vision is blurred,
As tears fall and soon dry,

His nightmares pursue him,
Through day and through night,

His façade is shaken,
Purpose blurred,
Until the sun caresses the horizon,
A warming tone,

Holding his chills at bay,
His visions afar,
Saving himself from the nightmare,
His own wrought creature,

Bored he says,
To give the visage,
Of a young innocent man,
Unaware of his cause,

He laughs,
And he cries,
Without ever allowing a glimpse,
Of the ailment he feels within,
To those he travels beside,

Being ever doubtful,
That they could ever understand,

But he moves forward,
His swords and friends,
At his side,
Determined to cleanse his sins,
On a journey of hope,

Only in that,
Does he believe,
Can his path,
Towards self-forgiveness,
Truly begin.

A/N- Wrote this one day when I just had a sudden urge to write angst dealing with Lloyd, our little idealist...I think with the whole traumatizing experience of watching Iselia be destroyed because of his actions he'd have at least a few nightmares to contend with, especially after seeing several other cities be razed like Palmcosta and Luin...

I am a firm believer in the opinion that Iselia was all Genis's fault and can't really see why Lloyd had to take the blame, since it was Genis, in addition to needing to see Marble, who was the one who allowed Lloyd's face to be captured on film, but that's just me...It might be the fact that I rarely "like" the little bugger when he goes all annoying...I also dislike the way he just suddenly became buddy buddy with Midget!Mithos when Lloyd has obviously been with him longer.
