Parting Ways

I stand here, the dark night growing
My Princess stands nearby,
I know the time has come,
Can it truly be goodbye?

We met when days were young and true,
We met when things were better,
Now that they are yet again
we are somehow still together.

Alas, we haven't much time,
she says I must return.
I do not wish to leave tonight,
But another part of me yearns...

It yearns for my old friends,
My younger days so true.
The days when I needn't fight
The days when things were well for you...

But what will happen if I leave,
The Flow of time disrupted?
Will things go back to their true form,
or will Hyrule become destruction?

I have no choice,
I'm not where i belong.
I hand the ocarina to her
and she takes my arm...

"Return now Hero"
She says to me so sweet.
"Return to your time, your own place
and please, never forget me..."

I never got the chance to answer,
Her lullabye starts to play.
But deep inside I answer,"I will never,"
I wish things didn't turn out this way...

Now I'm back in the temple,
My farie hovers around me.
Soon, she too leaves my side,
I hope to see you again, Navi...

I turn and leave the powerful sword,
while it's in its deep slumber.
Maybe someday it will be useful,
someday there may be another.
