A Demon's Venom - Chapter 1 – Lost in the woods
It was a cold, but beautiful day in the mountains of a not yet discovered region of the Pokemon world. The snow was high and the trees tall.
Some of them were located on very steep hillsides. Everything harmonized in the pretty, white color of the hills.
Inside of the tallest mountain, were several cave systems. One of those was hidden near a waterfall. It wasn't as deep as the others, but big
enough for a pack of Mightyena, which was housing there. Two grown up Mightyenas, the parents and four Poochyenas, their kids. The father
went outside to hunt for food every day, while the mother stayed with the kids.
One day the father took some of his kids out to hunt. They're old enough to hunt for themselves now. However a female Poochyena had to stay
with her mother. She wasn't strong enough yet. Her appearance was different from the rest of her siblings, as she had purple eyes, something
very unusual. The mother has curled up around her in a protective way. It was storming outside, stronger and colder than usual. They started to
worry about their family, as they were still out there to hunt. Some time passed and they haven't returned.
''Mommy, do you think Daddy and my brothers are alright?'' asked the little one.
''I'm sure they are, Ebony. They probably took shelter in another cave'' replied the mother.
Ebony shrugged ''I hope you're right... I miss them'' The storm raged more and more.
They looked at the cave's exit, yet the only thing they could see was the raging blizzard. Suddenly an explosion could be heard. Ebony's mother
stood up in shock, not knowing, what just happened. Ebony stayed close to her ''W-what was that, m-mommy?'' she didn't reply.
''Mommy?!'' Ebony turned her head and saw, why she didn't reply.
Puro, one of Ebony's brothers was standing at the cave's entrance. He was crying and had bad injuries.
''I... I couldn't save them...'' He tried to stand upright.
Ebony broke out in tears and snuggled up to him, which her mother did as well.
''Son, what happened? Where are the others?'' she asked, obviously worried.
He was trying to catch his breath. ''There's something out there, killing everything... Whatever it is, it got Daddy, Bisko and Sato... Daddy tried to hold it off, but he died a few seconds later.'' ''Oh no...'' Ebony was now crying.
He continued. ''It went right after us. Some kind of colored light flashed past us. We've seen how it killed Daddy, so we ran. I'm the only one, who survived...''
''We can't stay here!'' The mother concluded. ''It is out there to hunt. If we leave this place, we might be safe. Otherwise it might follow us and everyone else in this region is safe.''
''But...'' Ebony tried to argue ''This is our home! We can't just leave. It's well hidden too.''
''It will probably search the whole place. It's just a matter of time, until it finds us here.'' the mother added.
Puro tried his best to treat his wounds, while his mother helped him with that ''...Ok... Apparently that's our only option right now.''
It didn't take them long to grab their essentials and were ready to leave. Ebony took a peak outside, so she could find out, if it was safe.
She saw the flying lights, that Puro was talking about. It was the only thing she could make out through the snow.
''The lights are still there...'' She said.
''We can't afford any chances. This is a 'now' or 'never', so get ready.'' the mother replied with a lot of confidence. ''We will make it, we just have to.''
Puro nodded in agreement, but Ebony held back for a few seconds before doing so too.
''It spots movement, so move slowly. Try not to draw any attention to you.'' he advised. ''If you get spotted anyway, be ready to run as fast as you can and don't look back.''
They started to walk down the cliff and eventually reached the forest below. Ebony was able to hear very loud noises, followed by
the flying lights. She tried to remain calm, which wasn't an easy task in a deadly environment. Some surviving Pokemon were running,
but some tried to fight back, resulting in their deaths. One corpse landed next to Ebony, who just stood there in shock. It was a Scizor,
a steel type and there were heavy burns in it's chest. Does that mean these lights are made of fire? Then she heard Puro's voice.
''Come on Ebony, we can't afford to take breaks here!''
''Ok...'' She looked at the Scizor one more time, before following Puro again.
The storm seemed to be getting stronger every minute and it became much harder to see. Suddenly Ebony saw the shape of a creature
on two legs, which was holding a glowing thing in it's hand. She quickly realized, that this must be the attacker and started to run, resulting
in her getting spotted by it. The others reacted to this and started to run as well. The creature was following and fired its glowing thing at them.
The flying light flashed past them, so they ran faster. Too fast for Ebony to keep up. She tried to speed up as well, but she just couldn't and
tripped over a branch. The creature didn't care and followed her mother and Puro, that's all she was able to make out before she blacked out.
Some time later she slowly opened her eyes. Everything was blurry, but she managed to see, that there was a smaller creature standing right
in front of her. It had a glowing gun too, but it seemed less intelligent. It didn't shoot her, but it realized Ebony's awakening and started to aim
at her. She thought that's her end, but the creature got attacked and killed by something. Unfortunately it fell on Ebony. The impact was strong
enough to knock her out again.
