"It's really good to hear your voice saying my name. – Hinder, "Lips of an Angel"

The Doctor hadn't meant to stumble across Rose's old things. He had been wandering around the TARDIS in search of Martha when he noticed something setting in the middle of the hallway and he assumed Martha had left it lying about. He had opened his mouth to call out for her only to stop dead as he recognized it as Rose's old video camera.

He cradled the camera as if it were a child before he hurried into his room and popped the disk into his DVD player. It was already rewound, to his surprise, and he pressed play.

"Look, mum got me a new video camera for my birthday!" Rose's voice sounded loudly throughout the room. The camera was focused on an image of him with his eyebrow raised and a facetious grin.

"Well, what're you going to use it for? Can't really record anything when you're running away from a murderous alien."

"You're such a spoil sport!" There was a squeal from Rose and the image blurred as the Doctor grabbed the camera from Rose and pointed it at her.

The Doctor felt his heart stop as her image came in to focus.

"It's your turn. Say hi!"

Rose blushed and waved from her spot on the captains chair, her tongue curling around her teeth in her adorable way and her hair pouring messily into her face and over her shoulders. "Hi," She responded with a roll of her eyes, "C'mon, now, gimme my camera back."

"I don't know, I think I rather like it. I think I'll have to keep it." The image blurred again as the Doctor twisted it in his hands, examining it playfully and snatching a close-up of his teeth before focusing from a high angle down on Rose as she tried to pry her camera from his hands.

" Doctor!"

The Doctor could feel the tears building up behind his eyes the moment Rose said his name. He was no longer listening to their argument. He was just staring at her face, soaking it all in, listening to way her voice caressed his name.

It sent chills down his spine. He almost wished he'd never found the tape, but at the same time, he was so glad.

"Rose," he whispered brokenly before setting on the edge of his bed and staring painfully at the screen. They had been so happy. He found his remote and paused the video so he could just stare at her. He never wanted to stop.

He remembered everything about her, from the feel of her hand clasped so tightly in his, the smell of her hair that was almost always taken care of, the way her voice said his name and sent chills down his spine…

They way she simply was. They was she took what he taught her to heart, the way she learned what he wanted all of his companions to learn from their travels with him. The way she adapted to every situation, even the way he took the domestic approach.

"Doctor!"

Martha's call caught his attention and he realized that he had been watching her still image and thinking about her for almost an hour. With a broken sigh he stood and turned off the screen, regretting it instantly but knowing that life was going to move on, with or without him.
