"Okay Toothless, you know the plan" Hiccup whispered to his best friend. The Night Fury grunted in response and tossed Hiccup into the air. Hiccup felt the wind in his face as he dropped 30 feet from the air. Just as he was about to be slapped by the waves, Toothless caught him. "T-That was great! Yes!" Hiccup cheered, fist pumping. As an answer, Toothless grinned. Suddenly, Hiccup saw another dragon flying about with a Viking on it. It looked like a Monstrous Nightmare and the Viking was a female. Thinking that it was just another Viking from Berk, Hiccup steered Toothless back to the docks.
"Hey Astrid" Hiccup greeted his girlfriend. "Hey Hiccup" Astrid chirped, punching him in the arm before kissing him. It hurt, yes, but Hiccup was used to it. "Come on, I heard twins are daring Snotlout to kiss a sheep's butt!" Astrid grinned and dashed off. "I think I would skip that…If you don't mind" Hiccup stammered, no way was he going to look at anyone kissing a butt of a sheep. "Suit yourself!" Astrid shouted. Hiccup smiled but later frowned. Monstrous Nightmare troubled him but why? Toothless seemed to sense his discomfort and nudged Hiccup gently. "It's okay Toothless. Just distracted" Hiccup assure his friend. He decided to ask his father, Stoick The Vast, also the chieftain of the island.
"Dad, do any of the villagers have a Monstrous Nightmare? Besides Snotlout of course." Stoick scratched his beard before saying "Not that I know of, son. Why did you ask?" "Oh…erm…nothing Just wondering" Hiccup lied. Stoick looked at his son before walking off to inspect other matters.
Later in his room, Hiccup sat on his bed, thinking about that mysterious Viking. 'Maybe I should ask Astrid' Hiccup decided.
"Hey, Astrid! Do you have time to have a chat with me?" Hiccup asked. "Let's see, I'm taking Stormfly for a flight at noon. Now's about late morning…so yeah what do you want to talk about Hiccup?" Astrid said. "Well, this morning when I was doing aerial tricks with Toothless, I saw A Viking on a Monstrous Nightmare. But the Viking was a female! So it couldn't have been Snotlout" Hiccup explained. "Yeah, you do have a point. Are you sure there are no other Vikings that uses a Monstrous Nightmare?" Astrid countered. "I asked my dad and he told me he did not know anyone." "Who're you talkin' about?" a voice asked. The teen Vikings turned around to see Gobber. "I think I may know who yer talking 'bout"
"The Viking you saw was Protector de la Selva. She is the Protector of the forest on Berk. Rumor has it that she was taken by a Monstrous Nightmare." Gobber explained. Hiccup thought for a moment before asking," Do you know how old she is Gobber?" "Aye, she was a real young teen just like you Hiccup" Gobber replied, using his hooked hand and shoving Hiccup. "Gee Thanks Gobber" Hiccup said flatly.
He noticed Astrid being very quiet. "What's wrong Astrid?" "What? Oh...*Sighs* When Gobber mentioned protector of the forest, a memory went into my head. My last memory...of my sister."
