I wrote this story this morning. I was dreaming and I saw a stone-man figure and it spoke to me. So I wrote it down. It made me cry. This story takes place during season 4 finale. Hope you like it.

Beckett tossed all of her belongings in a box and left the building after she quiet her job at the precinct, not knowing that Castle left her a present for her on her desk. Yes he was, well heart broken but he still gave her the one thing that he thought that she might like to see. She sat the box down on the couch next to her and began to cry.

"How can I be so stupid to believe he would rescue me after... I was...just.." she sniffs, "Fooling myself." Tears dripped from her eyes. She was searching for a tissue when she saw it. A small box with a bow on it.

"What the..." She picked the small box up. "Why is it so heavy? I don't remember this being on my desk." she put the small box on the table. "Who would send me something like..."

"Just open it, then you will see. Just like me." Now I'm hearing things, you didn't just talk to me. she picked up her stick-man. On the worst of days in your life there is always hope. She smiled at the doll. "Fine I'll open the box, I just hope that it's worth my time." Beckett picks the small box back up and pulls at the red ribbon. She lets out a sigh, what am I going to find in here. Did she really want to know, what was inside the box. She slowly lefts the lid. "What the..." she stares at it for a minute then picks it up. It's a stony-man. Just like her doll but made out of stones. "What? I don't..." She turns the doll around looking at it curiously. I don't understand...why is it holding a chisel and what is that a ladder? She looks in the bottom of the box, where a folded piece of paper was. "I guess I better read the note that goes with it...uh..." She smiles, "It's kind of cute, don't you think?"

She unfolded the paper, in what she came to know as Castle's handwriting was a note on the doll. "He made this...I don't."

"Beckett...Kate...I thought you might like the doll I made, he comes with the poem.

These are the stones
that made up your wall
hopefully now I will see
the gifts buried deep within

I scraped and clawed for days on end
just so I could be let in
soaked in my blood and tears
till the rock finally came tumbling down

now the sun will shine
and birds will sing
you will be set free
all because of me

I made this doll for you to hold
now let your heart fly
so that you too can be free..."

"Castle I..." she sniffs. She places the stony-man in her hands and hugs the doll letting her tears flow...what have I done?

the end...
