Prologue
I laughed as I held the camera to face him. He danced around the park and did silly tricks. Soon he came up to me and took my camera, "Your turn!" he smiled. I shrugged and ran up in front of the camera and took out my iPod. I turned up my favorite song and danced around. We both laughed hysterically when I fell down or when people gave me strange looks. Soon enough his youngest brother came running from the playground and asked if he could join us. Of course we agreed, but he had to video us together for a few minutes. We shared earbuds and danced until the ground was spinning. We took the camera from his brother and videotaped him being silly. Our heads were together as we watched the tiny screen. "Zoom in a little," he said. "Its fine the way it is!" I protested.
Theodore came waddling up to us and said he was tired, so he wanted to tape more. We walked in front of the camera and he and I began I dance some more. But we stopped dead when we heard the rare sound of a gun firing. The park was still, as it seemed to hold its breath. We heard screams from the other side, followed by more shots. Alvin grabbed my hand and we started running. We ran straight to his house and closed the door behind us. Dave stared down at us, "Alvin, Brittany, what happened? Where's Theodore?" Our eyes grew wide and we looked at each other. It us about ten minutes to tell Dave what happened. We were almost through when a "Breaking News" bulletin appeared on the television screen. It said something about a camera was found in the local park after a gunman came through. It showed the last clip we took, of Alvin and I dancing around and then the gunshots, and then a shot came real close and the camera dropped and was shoved around on the ground as a strange pair of feet walked by it. Alvin whispered to me, "Do you think he killed Theodore?" His voice sounding of tears. My eyes were clouded with emotion, "I- I don't know…" We watched as the victim list scrolled by and fell to our knees when his name rolled by…
