Chapter 241 is just the death of me.
It doesn't take Izuki too long to know that she has a thing for Mayuzumi Chihiro (she plays PG for the basketball team, for god's sake.), but it doesn't mean she knows what to do with it. For all of five seconds, that is.
She's not that dumb, and an intelligent girl knows what she's going to do. Since Mayuzumi is such a gentleman and doesn't like to trouble her, she doubts if he ever asks her out. Unless she says to him first. (she knows he likes her, it's the only reason why he has putting up with her for as long as he has.) It's decided. Izuki Shun is going to ask him out. It's simple.
It's simple, until her mother gets involved.
"Darling, it's not like that." She's said. "Asking him out so quickly and so straightforward is bad."
Let Izuki gets this straight. From where the woman is standing, Izuki and Mayuzumi haven't spent enough time together for Izuki to be taking that step yet. (There're even steps?)
That's how Izuki finds herself walking to the roof - Mayuzumi's favorite spot at noon, for peace and cloud watching - without her fan and letting her hair down. ("Girls would be more attractive with their hair down." - her mother says.)
And oddly enough, Izuki actually feels nervous as she approaches the familiar grey head, fighting the urge to walks toward him and run her hands through his hair. She isn't used to it, even though it's her who has decided to approach directly.
Mayuzumi remains silent as she sits down beside him, hugging her knees close to her chest. She plays with her hair, instead of saying anything. For the most part, she ends up staring at him like a total idiot. (Riko would definitely laugh so hard if she knew Izuki has turned into a fangirl, Mayuzumi's fangirl.)
And Mayuzumi being Mayuzumi, notices it.
"What's wrong, Izuki-san?"
Her cheeks are scarlet, she's so sure of this. She splutters (god, she is really spluttering!):
"No… Nothing."
"Izuki-san."
"It's… It's cloud watching, right? I think I've got clouded vision." Why are words failing her here?
"You have the Eagle Eye."
"I'm watching cloud, really."
He lets out a sigh,
"Watching cloud haves the calming effect, and you don't look like that."
She stubbornly tilts her head upwards to the cloud. She's thinking of doing more often, so that she can get Mayuzumi to listen to her long enough to acquiesce when she (gathers all her courage) asks him out.
"Mayuzumi-san! That one looks like an eagle!"
"Izuki-san really has a fetish to eagles."
