It was movie night. Scott and Isaac had decided that there's no crime in taking one evening off every week to watch a movie, it was only a few hours, what harm would come to them? Those invited were Stiles, Lydia, Allison, Boyd, and Derek. The last two had never actually shown up, which wasn't too surprising. Tonight nobody appeared due to family and homework obligations. Rather than a movie, which had obviously been the plan, Isaac propositioned something else.
"How would you like to learn how to dance?" he questioned, taking the DVD out of Scott's grasp.
"Tonight we were finally going to watch Star Wars." Scott protested. "Stiles has been on my ass about that game since ever."
Glancing at the title, Isaac tossed the case onto an end table. "if we're watching Star Wars, we watch it with Stiles. We also definitely start with A New Hope, not Phantom Menace."
"I shouldn't watch it out of order, though."
"Don't worry your pretty little head about it. I know what I'm talking about, and Stiles will agree." He offered a lopsided grin and led Scott by the arm towards the furniture in the living room. "Help me move everything out of the way. My dad made me take dance when I was younger, something about improving my balance. Now, by teaching you, I can put those lessons to good use."
Knowing to tread lightly on the topic of Isaac's father, Scott nods, and pushes the couch back to the wall.
After Isaac had moved the end table, he led Scott to the center of the room.
"Okay, so it starts like this." He demonstrated, stepping forward. "Simple. From here it gets trickier, so watch me closely."
Scott might have been watching too closely. His eyes stray to the movement of Isaac's face, the mask of concentration as he instructs which movement comes next, along with proper footwork.
"Scott!" Isaac snaps him out of his haze of misplaced concentration. "Were you listening at all? Super senses work better if you focus."
"I'm sorry." He puts his hands up in defense. "Got a bit distracted, run that by me again?"
"Notice the feet movement this time." Isaac scolds, situating himself in the center of the living room once again.
"I should have gotten it by now!" Scott grumbles after he stumbles through his fifth attempt.
"Yeah, you really should have this! The simplest moves ever. C'mon, McCall, you can do lacrosse, run cross country, fight alphas, but not this?" Isaac's playful taunt bothers Scott more than he'd admit.
"Come on, once more, Isaac. I've got to be able to do it this time."
"Relax! If you take it less seriously, it'll come to you easier." Isaac gives him a pat on the shoulder. "Lead on, you've got it this time around."
Three steps in and Scott's leg gets tangled with Isaac's and they fall to the ground. Scott thrashes wildly for a few moments and Isaac erupts into a fit of uncharacteristic giggles.
Unable to take dancing lessons seriously any longer, Scott joins in with hearty laughter as Isaac's breathing evens out. Dancing forgotten, laughter echoes throughout the house.
