Corpses of allies and enemies strewn throughout the battlefield as she stood on the little outcrop, taking in the surrounding. The Dark Voice had been killed. The threat of total Armageddon had been neutralized. The weight on her shoulder had been lifted. She should feel relieved. She should be happy. And yet none of it came close to what she was feeling at that very moment. Her glowing blue eyes looked ahead into the unknown. Into the uncertainty.

"So what now?"

She heard a voice coming in from behind her. The voice that she would miss the most for she knew that the time had come.

"All the things that should be done had been done, Jim. It's time for me to leave everything behind. Forever."

Jim began to closing in on her. "Including me as well?"

She said nothing. At that point, she felt a rough hand touching her cheeks, cupping her face. The glowing blue eyes met with the brown ones.

"You know how hard it is for me to let you go, Sarah. But even then, deep inside, I still wanted you to be happy. I understand, Sarah."

Tears began to rain down her cheeks. Sobbing, she said, "I'm doing this out of necessity, Jim. Not because I wanted to be happy. The only place I would be happy is beside you. But-,"

"It's something that we both could never have," finished Jim. His hand continued to caress her cheeks, wiping away every tear that flowed down. He then continued, "Sarah, you know how much I loved you. You know how much I wanted to be with you. You were my chances, Sarah. My chances to get my life back the way it used to be. But as always, the one that we always wanted would always be the one we could never get. You're leaving this sector so that all of us would have a chance to rebuild our life back, the way it should be. It's a noble thing, Sarah."

"Come with me, Jim. Let's us leave this place and all of it behind."

"You know I can't."

"But-,"

"Sarah, you know I can't follow you no matter how much I wanted to."

"But, I loved you.."

"And I love you too. Look, here," Jim took out a small paper wrapping. Inside it was a ring. Jim took the ring and put it on one of Sarah's finger. Smiling he said, "You remember this ring, don't you? The very same I gave you when we're on our way to Haven. I still want you to have it. I want you to keep it."

Sarah simply stared at the ring, now placed snugly on her finger. Her once dried tears flowed once again. Slowly she looked up at Jim.

Jim looked into the softly glowing eyes for as long as he could for he knew it would be the last he would see them. With her hands firmly in his grip, he said, "Sarah, no matter where you are, where you would be, just remember, that you would always be my wife and my heart would always belong to you until death do us apart."

With that, both of them kissed, a deep long kiss for the very last time.

Jim Raynor simply stood there and watched as the Zerg began to lift off and flew away from the planet. He continued to watch until all of them were nothing but a speck of dust among the stars that glittered into the night.

"Goodbye, Sarah Louise Kerrigan."
