I had decided to join Colonel Sheppard's team on their current mission. Everything had been quiet for a while so she figured it would be ok to eave Atlantis in Caldwell's hands. When they got to the village we were told that they could only enter if one of us could show proficiency on an instrument that looked strangely like a piano.
"Great who can learn to play a …what he call this thing really quickly" Shepherd said a bit sarcastically. Teyla and Ronon both shook their heads. While Rodney…RODNEY.
While the others where discussing what to do I turned and was about to start talking to Rodney when he said
"NO, NO, NO, there is no way"
"Come on this is basically a piano, and you play piano" I said, this statement got me a chorus of what's from the other three. Which Rodney chose to ignore.
"That was years ago" he said
"Please Rodney it the only way they'll interact with us" Teyla implored
"Ya common Rodney we need more trading partners" Sheppard added in
"Fine I'll do it, go get that guy" Rodney responded
While Sheppard went to get the man who had brought us here, Rodney fiddled with the device figuring out which keys played which note, as soon as Sheppard got back with the man he began to play. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard in my life. It was much better than I had anticipated. Rodney had told me that his teacher said he played with no heart well, from what I'm hearing his teacher had to be deaf, dumb, and blind. And by the face of everyone else, I'm pretty sure they would agree. Once he finished every one applauded.
"That was beautiful" Teyla told him
"It was Pretty Awesome " Ronon Agreed
"Your teacher was totally wrong that was way more then mechanically good" I said to him to which he rolled his eyes. Then I turned to talk to the leader of the natives. But I could still here Rodney and Sheppard talking.
"That was great how come you never told me you could play piano." John said
"I'm not all that good, according to my teacher I have great mechanics but no heart." Rodney replied
"You're kidding that performance was full of heart, it was beautiful, what was it anyway." John asked
"It's nothing just something I've been working on" Rodney replied blushing I could tell he was getting embarrassed so I decided to intervene. "Colonel why don't come meet the leader saying as they'll deal more directly with you then me."
He looked at Rodney before responding "sure". I then sunk back to talk to Rodney.
"It's about him isn't it" I ask
"What are you talking about" he replied
"Heard you two talking, you like him." I said
"Yes, fine it is about him, just don't tell him that." He asked
"Your secrets safe with me" I told him and I meant it I won't tell of course I never said I wouldn't give Sheppard hints. I know Sheppard feels the same way. They're just too stupid to realize it. It is going to be fun to see how this plays out.
