The Macdonald-Venturi family sat in the family room, wondering why they were there. Edwin Venturi was dressed up in a detective coat and hat, and had a fake cigarette in his mouth. He was pacing back and forth in front of everyone.
"Edwin! What are we doing here?" Casey asked. Edwin raised his eyebrow and looked at her.
"You may all be wondering what you are doing here…" Edwin said.
"That's what I just asked." Casey said, cutting him off. Edwin rolled his eyes.
"Anyways, it appears that someone in this household has stolen a cookie from the cookie jar. After looking over the evidence, I have come to the conclusion that Casey stole a cookie from the cookie jar!" Edwin exclaimed, pointing to Casey. Casey looked to her left and then her right, and then pointed to herself.
"Who me?" She asked. Edwin smiled.
"Yes you." He said. Casey shook her head.
"Couldn't be." Casey replied. Edwin looked at her quizzically.
"Then who?" He asked. Casey smiled.
"DEREK stole a cookie from the cookie jar." Casey said proudly. Derek's head shot up at the mention of his name.
"Who? Me?" Derek asked. Casey stuck her tongue out at him.
"YES you!" Casey exclaimed. Derek frowned.
"Couldn't be!" Derek said innocently. Casey rolled her eyes.
"Then who?" She asked. Derek looked around and then grinned evilly.
"Nora stole a cookie from the cookie jar." Derek said.
"Who me?" She asked. Derek rolled his eyes.
"No… the lazy oaf sitting next to you… YES YOU!" Derek exclaimed.
"Couldn't be." Nora replied.
"Then who?" Derek asked. Nora looked at Lizzie, who was nibbling on a carrot stick.
"Lizzie stole the cookie from the cookie jar." Nora said quickly. Lizzie bit down hard on her carrot and almost choked on it.
"Who, me?" She asked. Nora smiled sweetly at her daughter.
"Yes, you."
"Couldn't be." Lizzie said like it was the most obvious thing on earth.
"Then who?" Nora asked. Suddenly, Marti stood up.
"I'M TIRED OF THIS! No one's going to admit that they stole the cookie from the cookie jar! None of these people even stole the cookie! I saw Edwin steal the cookie from the cookie jar!" Marti exclaimed. Everyone looked at Edwin, who had cookie crumbs all over his face. The colour quickly drained from Edwin's face.
"I… stole the cookie from the cookie jar." Edwin said guiltily.
