The Ugly Duckling – By Liz
When Gregory House hired his three new ducklings, he was faced with a bit of a dilemma. Two of his ducklings were brilliant and attractive, but one of them simply did not fit in. As much as Dr. House tried to accept this duckling into his department, the rest of the hospital simply did not.
Ever since Dr. Chase had been hired, he had been made fun of for his floppy hair, his ties that did not match, and not to mention his accent. Of course, we can't forget that Chase wasn't exactly the sharpest syringe in the drawer either. Chase tried his best to fit in with the rest of the hospital, but all the nurses and doctors simply made fun of him. Even the creepy night janitor who wore his pants backwards had more friends than him.
Eventually, there came a day when Dr. Chase just could not take it anymore. He was tired of being called a wombat, a wallaby, and worst of all, British. So, Chase decided that he might be more accepted at a different hospital; he quit his job at PPTH and went in search of a hospital that might appreciate his… unique personality. The only question was what hospital in their right mind would hire an intensivist with no sense of style and a low IQ? Too bad his daddy wasn't alive anymore to make some phone calls.
Chase searched for days, weeks, and even months for the right hospital for him. He had tried hospitals in Britain (taking advice from House), but that didn't seem to work out for obvious reasons. He even went to a few hospitals in California, but the guys in his neighborhood were a bit too friendly for his liking. He couldn't figure out why. Chase eventually decided to return to his homeland of Australia in hopes of finding his real home.
As luck would have it, Chase did find his home, but it was not with any doctor or even a nurse. No, he came upon an odd group of creatures all drinking from a pond. The creatures looked absolutely magnificent to Chase. They were so magnificent in fact, that he thought they surely would have no interest in his company. Chase soon became discouraged, but suddenly, one of them began to walk over to him. Chase seemed ecstatic. To his surprise, the glorious creatures welcomed and accepted him. Staring at his own reflection in the pond, Chase realized that he, too, was a wombat.
The End
And the lesson of the story, children, is don't wear too much hair gel, and please wear ties that match your shirts. D
