So this idea just got in my head randomly. I don't actually know anything about the personality or such of Magnus Chase. I also left out any mention of his appearance since we don't know what he looks like yet either. Was just a quick story based on something Percy says teasingly in BoO.
Annabeth stood nervously in the park with Percy, awaiting her cousin's arrival.
"Do you think maybe he got lost?" Percy asked, ignorantly.
Annabeth turned on him, "He lives here Percy, we're the ones that would get lost" she muttered.
He looked down sheepishly, "Oh yea, that's true."
They were waiting for her cousin Magnus, whom Annabeth had gotten in touch with shortly after the Giant War. She wanted to get on closer terms with her family, something she'd never done before, but having such a near death experience as Tartarus was, she had a new appreciation for cherishing family and friends.
Finally, she spotted her cousin coming towards him. He looked a little different than the pictures she'd had of him, but he was older, so that was natural.
"Annabeth?" Magnus asked, as soon as he was close to them. "That'd be me, Cuz'" she said, grinning. He sighed in relief, "I was pretty sure, but the last photo we had around of you was when you were like seven, your dad stopped sending them after that."
Annabeth looked down momentarily, "Yea, had a lot of family issues going on for a while." She smiled at Magnus though, "We had a bit more recent one of you though, luckily."
"Yea" he grinned, before turning to Percy, who'd been standing beside her silently, frowning.
"Who's this guy?" Magnus asked, Annabeth chuckled, "My boyfriend, Percy." She informed him, "Why he's frowning so much, I have no idea."
"So you're from Boston?" Percy asked Magnus, at last. Magnus furrowed his eyebrows, "Yea, why?"
"Favourite Baseball team?"
"Red Sox's, of course."
Percy turned to his girlfriend, "I don't like him, Annabeth, this just isn't going to work."
Annabeth rolled her eyes at Percy's drama, "Shut up, Seaweed Brain."
"What does this have to do with anything, exactly?" Magnus asked.
"Percy is a New Yorker, " Annabeth explained, with exasperated slowness, "He roots for the Yankees."
Magnus studied Percy for a few more seconds before turning to Annabeth.
"Okay, I know we just started to get to know one another but as your cousin Annabeth, this guy doesn't seem right for you."
Cue Annabeth facepalming.
"Seriously? Can't you just look past this and find something you have in common with one another?" she muttered.
Both boys gave her bewildered looks, "What similarities could even hope to make this okay?" Percy demanded.
Annabeth looked between them for a moment, settling her eyes on her boyfriend and letting a mischievous grin quirk up on her lips.
"Favourite food" she queried.
"Cheeseburgers" came the reply, simultaneously from both boys. The two, boyfriend and cousin, turned to look at each other with narrowed eyes.
Their staring contest lasted about a minute and a half before Percy nodded reluctantly, "I suppose we can put these differences aside" he submitted, "For Annabeth, of course."
"Yes, naturally." Magnus agreed, sticking his chin up, "Though we need to discuss this peace between us over a proper meal."
Annabeth shook her head, "My, I wonder what you have in mind, Magnus."
He shot her a grin, "Come with me, Cuz'. I know a great burger place not far from here." He looked Percy up and down, "Whatever you do, don't tell anyone where you're from. Bostonians are dangerous people."
Percy nodded, smiling lightly, "When you come to visit us, you'll have to follow the same rule. New Yorkers are a hardy bunch."
Annabeth followed behind the two as they begun an endless banter. "I should have never introduced you two idiots." She muttered, too low for either boy to hear.
