Today was a normal day, lining up in the small corridor waiting to be given access to the canteen for food. However normal included about half the school crowding together pushing into one another, as well as people trying to get ahead of the queue without others noticing. This meant Ruby and Weiss was forced ahead from Yang and I with younger children screaming and fighting all around us. It was easy to tell, Yang was about to blow.
Yang had been pushed against the wall and anger seeped into her beautiful purple eyes, and her gorgeous long and curly blonde hair swayed with each erratic movement. With a Grimm like grunt a small teen was shoved into my back propelling me into Yang, I threw my arms up to rest on the wall on either side of her head. This seemed to be the last straw for Yang and in her authoritative voice she roared, "You all better calm down before you all end up on the floor!"
The room quietend down enough that I could hear the annoying buzz of an insect nearby.
The chatter and gossip continued in a quiet volume but the area stayed compact leaving me in the awkward position in front of my best friend. I avoid looking at her intense and angry gaze and glance down to see both of her hands gently holding both of my hips protectively. I feel heat rush to my face as a bright red blush takes residence on my pale skinned face. To hide my ever growing blush I shuffled forward and let my forehead come to a rest on Yang's shoulder.
I thought about how intimate this binding embrace both me and Yang was in must have looked like to anyone who bothered looking this direction. "Are you okay?" Yang questioned, motioning for me to look up at her. I just nod while mumbling something about feeling cramped and then returned to the comfort of Yang's strong hold.
I'm just fine where I am. Despite the chaos that was all around us I felt just fine, safe even, with Yang. The warmth of her chest makes me forget where we are and not care about what the people around us might think.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when our mindless shuffling brought us to the entrance of the canteen. We both spot Ruby enthusiastically waving at us showing that they got us a table. After being given the non-verbal permission to move on by the staff that was guarding the hall, Yang dragged me to go pick what hot meal we wanted. Finally. We were out of the crowd.
"I swear that crowd makes fighting a nevermore look easy" Yang shouted over the various noises of the canteen making me giggle a little. I smile at Yang, who was picking up multiple items of food for her tray, she catches me staring and returned a goofy yet caring smile that stops my heart from beating for a moment as I realise something.
I, Blake Belladonna have a hopeless crush on my best friend, Yang Xiao Long.
