Marked By Stripes
A/N: You have stumbled across my second fanfic. Okay… it's another poem but I like it. It's not a manga related one like my last, but I hope my message gets across to you. It was based on the book/movie a Boy in the Striped Pyjamas which I found very emotional and thought provoking. I hope you enjoy it.
Lying on a cold damp wooden rack, which is your bed.
Watching days fly past,
Working every day.
Enclosed inside a cage,
Where they rule over you,
and you are their slave.
See birds chirp, sing and fly outside.
Why are those birds free,
but you are the one stuck inside the cage.
The dense and dark but welcoming forest beyond,
is the place you would rather be.
These striped blue clothes mark you.
Mark you as scum.
Mark you as parasites.
Mark you as trash.
They mark as you as a betrayer to their kind.
They only have one thing on their minds.
And that's to to rid the world of your kind,
so theirs will prevail.
One by One, Two by Two,
March towards the nation's call.
Three by Three, Four by Four,
Awaiting your dire and inevitable fate.
Five by Five, Six by Six,
Kneel on the ground, not soft but coarse.
Seven by Seven, Eight by Eight,
Close your eyes, hidden from the world.
Nine by Nine, Ten by Ten,
Fall into an eternal slumber.
A/N: Thank you for reading my fanfic. I hope you understood it and enjoyed it. I wrote the last stanza after watching the movie. The rest I just added so it would be longer and so you might understand what I am talking about. Please review. Constructive criticism is encouraged and welcomed. Thanks again.
