As a clockblocking member of the SPN Family obviously I want a crossover, and while watching through Timeless for the third time I suddenly realized how badly I would love to see a scene with Agent Christopher and Mary being bunker moms. This is what I came up with. It's short (VERY short), but hopefully you'll enjoy it just the same.

Waiting Is The Hardest Part

Denise couldn't help but notice that Mary Winchester couldn't sit still. As soon as her sons had left—one in the Lifeboat and the other in the Impala Wyatt had been drooling over—the hunter had started pacing, and Denise couldn't help but wonder if this was normal for her or if the introduction of time travel—without the aid of an angel—to her already abnormal world had caused her stress levels to rise.

"Are you okay?" she asked calmly, putting a hand on Mary's shoulder to get her attention.

"What?" Mary asked, snapping out of her thoughts and looking at the Homeland Security agent as if she'd just come out of some kind of trance. "Oh. No. This isn't the first time I've stayed behind while my boys have gone off on some dangerous...mission, but I'm a hunter and a mother. I feel like I should be out there with them."

"I know exactly how you feel." Denise assured her.

"You do?" Mary asked.

Denise nodded, the ghost of a smile appearing briefly on her deceptively calm face. "I'm a mom too, and while this team may not be blood, they're still my family. Just as much as my own wife and kids."

"Blood don't mean nothin'" the gruff old hunter from the alternate universe Mary and her boys called Apocalypse World said as he sat at the table with Mason searching through some obscure book of lore for information that might help those out hunting come home safely. "To quote myself apparently, 'Family don't end in blood.', and I happen to agree with Dean. It don't start there either."

"I happen to agree with all of you." Denise replied, and turned her attention back to the mother who was so clearly worried about losing on son in time and the others at the hand of some inhuman monster. "Mary, do you knit?"

"No." Mary said, looking confused. "Should I?"

"My wife taught me how." Denise informed her. "I'm really bad at it, but it helps pass the time while the teams out on a mission. It's a good distraction. I can teach you if you like."

Mary considered, and then shrugged. "Why not?"

Mason and Bobby continued their research while Denise taught Mary the basics of knitting. The hunter picked up the skill quickly, and as luck would have it, she was more talented with a pair of needles than her teacher. But it did help distract her, and before she knew it her boys were returning to the bunker bloody and bruised, but still breathing. As a mother it would never be easy to let them go off on their own, but maybe her new friend was right. Maybe knitting was just what she needed to help her pass the time when she wasn't out with them.

And I feel like you guys deserve to know that I would LOVE to write the whole story if I can figure it out. Obviously, that's exactly what I'm trying to do, but I may never figure it out and I just couldn't keep it from you guys. So here we are. Would anyone be interested in a whole story should I be able to dig up the rest of it? And yes, I already know the answer for some of you, so you can stop screaming at me now. I'm working on it. Hopefully. ~SG
