In a (failed) fanfiction I wrote a few years ago, it was explained that Mags & Riffy's mother was a prostitute, who was accidentally murdered by their violent drunk of a father. Being a couple of years older (in my eyes, at least) Riffy was the only one of the two siblings who had clear memories of her. This was what kick-started his madness; because he would always long for her, and revenge on his father – who may or may not have committed suicide after realising what he'd done. I have always kept this in mind, and I still absolutely love the idea of this being the reason behind his insanity. Throughout the movie, all that goddamn butler wants is his mum :( So I just crammed all in these ideas into one poem. Sniffle sniffle sniffle, he wants his mummy! *sobs hysterically*
Of Genetics and Dust
Mother, with curls never-ending,
Your beauty was your one true grace,
In this world of endless melodies,
But you were still so scared,
I pray you never forgot that you were loved.
Mother, with eyes blue as the night sky,
Indeed you were worshipped in this town,
By friends, neighbours and clients alike,
You should have soared,
Instead you let yourself sink deeper into a dangerous sea.
Mother, with a voice like honey,
All could see that he was a monster,
You did, too, if memory serves,
You just believed in all the lies concocted,
He could be a good man if given the chance.
Mother, with skin whiter than milk,
All the masks tumbled once;
Once you got pregnant,
He was not the flower you hoped he'd become,
A gruesome price would soon be paid.
Mother, my angel for always,
There's not much I can say,
I could never judge you of course,
But what was going on,
To make you keep coming back?
Mother, your halo the finest gold,
He was the man responsible,
You always knew he'd be the end of you,
And yet you never left,
A dedicated wife ever so fragile.
Mother, so far away from me,
My life now is so incomplete that it hurts,
I could kill for you just to keep my sanity,
It's what you deserve,
No one should fall victim of such cruelty again.
Mother, all that you were,
With such insanity comes a great fear I wish would vanish,
In lieu of slumber-land's sweetness,
My every thought is consumed by you,
You, my mother, just genetics and dust.
