MY HERO
Amanda cringed against the base of the tree, eyes wide with horror as the monster approached. Tall and hulking, hair hanging down over sloping forehead and into flame-filled eyes and the teeth – God, the teeth.
As it loomed over her, she whimpered and closed her eyes.
"Hey! Asshole!"
There was a violent explosion. Amanda cried out, curling into a little ball as the creature above her roared with rage and pain. Another explosion and its body slammed to the ground.
As gentle hands touched her, Amanda opened her eyes.
A green-eyed god smiled down at her. "Hey. You okay?"
