What's Your Status?

Note: This is based on the April (yes, I know it's old) prompt from the Fanfiction Studio guild on GaiaOnline - one character lies; the others believe them. This was also based on something I actually did a long time ago.

By the way, I'm still alive! I lost my head but thankfully I have recovered it. So here's a silly story to prove I'm back! Please read and review.

Haruna hadn't thought it would come to this, certainly didn't expect the comments to roll in like this, almost 10 a day. They ranged from "OMG when did this happen?! DETAILS! :D" to "Who is he, do I know him, tell big brother everything" to "It's Fudou isn't it," "no it aint! :(" And all she had done was change her relationship status to "in a relationship."

She didn't know why she did it, she just did. She even provided a few details, like a name (can't remember it right now, it was just the first thing that popped into her head), where they met (some ramen shop somewhere), what they do together (tons of stuff). Nobody would know and she figured the uproar would die down eventually. Five, six, seven weeks later and people are still asking about "the boyfriend".

It's all, "Haru, where's your bf?" and "Y no pics of you 2?!"

And now it's all gone out of control. Every day since the post, Rika's been texting, begging for details. Actually everyone has. Her big brother even came by the house, maybe hoping to catch a glimpse of this person who has taken his baby sister from him. She of course avoided the awkward meeting by hiding in the laundry room, behind the washing machine for good measure. Damn siscon…

She had even noticed Kogure tailing her one Saturday. The Saturday after that, he was joined by Aki and Tenma. At one point she could have sworn that Desuta was hovering somewhere beyond her peripheral vision. That's when she knew it had gone too far.

Then again, maybe it isn't too late. Nobody will know it was a lie; she just has to change her status back.

When she logged in, something stopped her from clicking that Edit button. What was she going to tell everyone? That they broke up because of the constant pressure – her face broke into an evil grin.

After all, what's another little lie?

After she posted her little break-up story, the condolences began rolling in. She had several private messages from the friends who were spying on her, saying how sorry they were for making her and her boyfriend uncomfortable. She let them off the hook since there never was a boyfriend to begin with. She still had to convince her brother that the breakup was her decision so that he wouldn't go hunting down a man who doesn't exist.

Then one day, after all was forgotten and forgiven, she got one message… from Fudou.

"So I hear that you broke up with your boyfriend. That's good cuz I tried looking him up but there's no record of him. None at all! He might have been playing you, so you know, good thing you dumped his butt.

By the way, are you free this Saturday?"
