Oneshot. LJ. How Lily and James got together. I know it's kind of cliché, don't shoot me.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Harry Potter, or any other brilliant thing coming from J.K. Rowling's mind. I do however; own my own mind… the miserable lump of Jell-O that it is. I also don't own Jell-O.

What Happened Last Night?

When did I fall asleep?

Lily thought to herself as she regained consciousness. Her eyes fluttered open.

Where am I?

She blinked and the room slowly came into focus.

James' room? But how did I get here?

She looked to her left and sure enough, James was fast asleep beside her.

Wait a second…

Lily glanced downward and noticed that both she and James both were wearing only the bedding.

...We didn't…

She sat up, a little too quickly. The room spun and pain shot through her temples.

Am I… hung-over? But I never drink…

She crawled out of the bed taking the comforter and leaving James with the sheet. The redhead slowly pushed the door open, the load creak making her head ache twenty times worse. She made her way towards the couch in the head's common room, collapsing onto it. Lily had never had alcohol before.

What happened last night? The last I remember is the Halloween costume party…

The costume party, to say the least, was a total nightmare. Half of the Hogwarts staff had come down with a mysterious illness, leaving the ball completely unsupervised. Consequently, some 6th years had smuggled large quantities of firewhiskey into the dance, and as Lily guessed, spiked the punch.

I knew that punch tasted weird. I should have been more careful!

Just then, James appeared at the doorway, sheet tied loosely around his waist. Lilly looked up and noticed that he was staring at her, but not at her face. She followed his eyes, and then noticed that the comforted was slipping down dangerously low. Pulling it tighter so that it hugged her body, she spoke.

"Do you remember anything?" She whispered.

James did not answer right away; he strode to the couch and sat beside her. He pursed his lips, "Most of it…" His eyes dropped to his lap, but she saw a tear stream down his cheek. "I'm so sorry, I was drunk, I didn't mean for this to happen."

"I don't blame you. It's my fault, I shouldn't have had so much punch, I had a feeling that it was spiked." Tears left wet paths down her cheeks.

He paused for a moment, "I know we are supposed to hate each other, but…" James trailed off.

Lily looked James straight in the eyes and asked, "Do you regret it?"

"No. I love you, Lily Evans. I've loved you since our first year, and I will always love you." James answered without breaking eye contact.

A small smile on her face and more tears in her eyes, she answered, "I love you too, James."
