This is related to one of my older stories, "Why". It's meant to take place the same time as that story as well. Thanking Alyssa again for helping me with making this story...even if it was accidental and with bad intentions
The four of them went to Naruto's favourite place in Konoha, Ichiraku Ramen.
Naturally picked by him of course.
While Chouji and Naruto scoffed down their ramen like there was no tomorrow, Kiba and Shikamaru looked with amazement.
When Shikamaru finally had the appetite, he ate his slowly.
Kiba decided they needed a distraction. "So Shikamaru, how's dating Temari going for you?"
Shikamaru almost choked on a string of noodles. "What?"
Kiba smirked. "C'mon man, we all know that you like her. I mean, you're with her every time she comes to Konoha."
"I'm her escort."
"That aside, what about your off duty times?"
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow.
Chouji spoke up. "The hill outside the gates that we have come to know as your spot."
Shikamaru's eyes widened. "You guys spy on us?"
Chouji smiled. "Not spy, just watch."
Shikamaru frowned at that comment.
Naruto swallowed loudly. "Plus I'm pretty sure going shopping with her isn't part of your duty as an escort, Shikamaru." He grinned.
Kiba laughed. "You see Shikamaru? Even this dimwit knows you're into her."
"Hey!"
Chouji laughed and Teuchi, the owner of Ichiraku joined in.
"Don't think I haven't notice the way you look at that girl when you're having lunch here, kid," he said, chiming into the conversation. "But don't think I don't notice the way she looks back at you."
Shikamaru eyed him questioningly.
With a smile, Teuchi returned to cooking his ramen.
Kiba broke the silence and chuckled again. "And it seems the feelings mutual."
"So admit it," Chouji said. "You like her, don't you?"
Shikamaru sighed. There wasn't much point in denying it now. "Yeah, yeah. You guys are right. Just don't spread this okay?"
Naruto grinned. "Promise."
Shikamaru got up. "Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting soon."
As he walked off into the distance the three others smiled knowingly to each other.
Naruto, still with the grin spread on his face spoke up. "We're not gonna keep this a secret, are we?"
The other two looked at him and shook their heads.
"Nope."
