Orihime's really exasperating sometimes, Tatsuki decides as she's getting ready to leave. She glances over at her friend, who is happily finishing off the rest of the picnic food, and at the same time attempting to befriend the little sparrows hopping around her. Orihime, you coming or not? She looks up with that priceless, slightly confused look of hers, before she hurriedly gets to her feet, looking abstractedly at the crumbs scattered on the ground.

"Don't even think about it, Orihime," Tatsuki says, though she's smiling a little. "It's already late. We better get going."

As they walk together, side by side, Orihime chirps on about Ichigo and the way he's been acting odd lately, but for once Tatsuki doesn't join in. She doesn't know what's up with him either, and finds she really doesn't care. She just wishes Orihime would stop. Before she knows it, jealousy has flared up and she's pulled the girl into a kiss. Orihime's eyes are surprised and she doesn't move, but at least her mouth is shut and she's quiet.

Tatsuki breaks away abruptly and starts walking again. She doesn't wait for Orihime to catch up, but shoves her hands into her pockets. She stares down at her sneakers. One of her shoelaces are broken. She'll have to fix it later.

Suddenly there's a loud pattering of feet and a shout. Wait, Tatsuki! The passers-by turn around, bemused. Orihime kisses with a simple, school-girl intensity and when she pulls away her eyes are wide and bright and happy, like a child who returns the favour in kind. Tatsuki almost despairs and is so irritated that the words slip out before she can stop them.

"Orihime, that's not what I --"

But Orihime stops her and takes her hand. Tatsuki's heart skips a little.

"Yeah," Orihime says. She smiles and looks up at the sky. "I know."
