Dating was still a very new concept for both Lucy and Natsu. Both were single for all their life, and it was just awkward the first time they decided to go out as a couple. Natsu was completely clueless as to where to take a woman for a date. At first he just wanted to date in the guild until Mirajane told him to take Lucy out to a fancy, beautiful restaurant because first date was always important; it would be the story that they would tell their children where he took their mother for the first date. So here he was with Lucy, in a fancy western restaurant, glancing over the menu as he was, again, clueless with the names of the food and wondering why the price was so crazy expensive.

They both just remained silent as they waited for the food. It was just so awkward that they didn't know how to start the conversation. They used to eat together in the guild with Happy and the rest of the guild mates, and now it was only two of them.

When their first course of food came, Lucy carefully glanced over all the utensils on her table. How could there be four forks on her left side, and three knives, two spoons, and one fork on her right side, and how could there be so many glasses on her side. Wasn't one glass of water just enough? She was undecided which utensil was used for which course of food. She was a daughter of a duke and she learnt the western table manner before, but it was years ago, and she had completely forgotten it.

"Luce, is the food not good?" Natsu asked, munching the lobster roll with his— bare hands?

Lucy wanted to scream at him, but she was not in the guild. She reminded herself that she had to remain calm, she was in a fancy restaurant right now. She whispered, "Natsu, that's not how you eat in a 5-star restaurant."

Natsu grinned. "You'd better just enjoy the food while they're still good."

A hint of a blush touched her cheek and her hazel eyes danced with amusement at his answer. No matter whether they were lovers or not and no matter where they went for a date, Natsu was still the same person. He was still dense and dumb as usual, but he was still being himself. Lucy decided to stop being nervous, and she just grabbed any fork on her left side. "Yep, let's eat," she said with a wide smile.

"Luce, the portion here is so little, and they're so crazy expensive. Let's just go back to the guild for the real food!"

Lucy giggled, and smiled. "I think so! Let's get back to guild after the first course!"

Their first date might be awkward at the beginning, but they still enjoyed themselves. After all, she was dating her own best friend.

A/N: I've never been to a western restaurant (because it's crazy expensive), but I ever watched movies where there were four to five utensils on both left and right side of the table, so I'm sorry if the utensils listed above were wrong! Nonetheless, I hope you still enjoy the drabble!
