Poor Edward Elric

So puny and small

He tried and he tried

But he couldn't grow tall

He tried stretching and eating

And even exercised

But the over-exertion

Would be his demise

Then one day Al came,

Such a bright little fellow,

Holding some milk

In a glass colored yellow

He gave Ed the milk

"It doesn't hurt to try"

But Ed thrust the cup back

Yelling, "I'd rather die!"

So Al disappeared

Rather hurt by Ed's shouting

And left the milk on the counter

Next to Ed pouting

The eldest Elric brother

Tried to ignore

The milk he so desperately

Wished to spill on the floor

But something inside him

Just couldn't do it

Ed was curious

And he very well knew it

Slowly, so slowly

He reached for the cup

Just thinking of milk

Made him want to throw up

With a deep breath

And an exaggerated sigh

Ed chugged down the milk

And tried not to cry

As the vomit-ous liquid

Pained his throat like a sore

It was his last cup of milk!

He would have no more!

But despite all his protests

His complaints and his cries

Something happened that night

Ed just couldn't deny

Upon waking up

As the sun was rising

Ed looked in the mirror

And saw something surprising

It was near to impossible!

A miracle! A dream!

Ed had grown taller!

Or so it would seem

At least half an inch

In one, single night!

The logical reason

Made Ed's head light

He looked to the cup

Still sitting there empty

A thin milk line trimmed it

To show there had been plenty

To at least show a difference

In one's health and their growth

But if that was the answer

Ed would never really know

"It's just a coincidence…"

He hoped to himself

Before washing the cup

And returning it to the shelf

No matter coincidence

Or a serving of good ol' cow glory

Ed was happier than ever

And would always tell his story

Of his sweet victory, his triumph of height

A feat Edward would always hold dear

Of how he grew half an inch in one night

Rather than waiting an entire year
