Double shot.

Of what?

Blended.

Hm…

No whip.

I'm sure I didn't just walk into the wrong store.

Venti.

And I also thought I was still in England.

Personal cup.

As if I would share!

Skinny.

I prefer being known as svelte.

With legs.

Clean shaven, I hope.

I was just beginning to enjoy myself, almost forgetting what I was there for, when I heard a voice behind me.

"Professor?"

I turned my attention from the three boards above the counter to the girl behind me. Surprised that I would run into any of my students in England, I almost didn't recognize her. She was wearing a low cut purple shirt with a purple stone necklace, flared jeans, and black boots. Her hair was straight and pulled back with a thick black headband. Her subtle makeup made her look slightly older than she was.

"Fancy seeing you here!"

Only Miss Granger could possibly be cheerful about meeting the least liked professor of her school during the holidays. "Good morning, Miss Granger." I responded but was quite at a loss as to what else I should say. I wondered if I could take points off Gryffindor for her low top.

"I just live a few blocks from here. Are you nearby as well?"

I sneered, about to give some scathing remark that only a fool would tell a student where he lived, when the pimply youth behind the counter rudely interrupted and asked if I knew what I wanted. I hadn't even begun to decipher the military-like codes upon the board, let alone choose which one I would enjoy best. If my sister hadn't recommended the place and given me a coupon, I would never have set foot in there. I blinked and turned my attention back to the drinks. Quietly, I muttered "It shouldn't be so bloody difficult to get a regular cup of coffee."

Before I could say anything to the impatient boy, Miss Granger leaned over towards him and briskly rattled off something that I barely caught as including cream and sugar. She also ordered something with peppermint bark in it for herself and paid for them both with a sleek plastic card. I frowned at her. "I don't believe I asked for your help, Miss Granger."

The infuriating girl just smiled and took her receipt. "It's the Christmas holidays, Professor. It's a time for helping." Then she moved away to a table to wait for her order.

I followed, not finished with her yet. "And what exactly did you order me?" I moved my cloak from underneath me and perched on a chair opposite her.

"Your usual." She was beginning to irritate me, but then she jumped up and received two paper cups from the counter. "Here," she walked back and handed mine over. "It's a large regular coffee, two creams, one sugar, and a dash of cinnamon. Careful, it's really hot."

I frowned and watched as she took the lid off her cup and blew on the contents. I couldn't stop myself from asking, "How did you know that's my usual?"

She smirked over the rim of her cup. "I've taken meals with you three times a day for the last five years. Despite what you think, I'm not a complete idiot." Then she replaced the lid on her cup and smiled. "I hope you have a nice holiday, Professor."

Before I could say anything else, she left. I picked up my drink and tentatively took a sip. It was just as good as I was used to at Hogwarts. Damn her.

I have been remiss in updating anything you guys actually want to read but I hope this little taste of a holiday fic will cheer you up. I was in a coffee shop with my friend Jessica when I decided to write this. Thanks to her and to drakien who helped me out. I have also been told I use too many paragraphs and drive Jessica nuts so I tried to fix it. I hope none of you are bothered by it.

Happy holidays to you all. Thanksgiving is right around the corner (for those in the USA) and then Christmas! Maybe I'll get a few more things up for you then. Until then!
