I follow Jin back to the place where you and Kate are sitting, at first Kate is reluctant to be the one to help bring your child into the world, but then she resolves to do what she has to. You're trying to hold back your contractions, saying that the child would know you didn't want it.

"But you want the baby now, don't you?" Kate asks, and you nod through tears, yes, you do.

I can't stand seeing you in such pain, I'm about to rush over to you when Jin stops me, my first thought is to shake off his arm and go to your side anyway, but then I realize what he's going on about; maybe you wants your privacy. Unable to do anything else I start pacing back and forth, like countless of fathers before me has done when their loved ones gives birth.

"But you're not the father. Charlie." A small voice says in my head, and suddenly a feel a surge of anger towards the real father of your child, where the hell is he? He should be by your side. It should be him pacing around nervously, not some stupid reformed drug-addict, and wannabe rock star. Then again; you shouldn't even be here, on this island, you told me you only boarded flight 815 because a psychic told you that a couple in L.A would adopt your baby. He knew the plane would crash; it was his way to make sure you would raise the baby yourself, but did he realize that placing you aboard flight 815 would mean that you would have to give birth in the middle of a jungle with only a runaway fugitive, a former drug addict and a Korean man who doesn't speak English to help you? I guess he didn't.

Finally it's over. You have a boy, a beautiful little son. Jin reaches out his hand to shake mine but I'm too overwhelmed to settle with that so instead I fling my arms around him and give him a hug.

"You're acting like you're the father of the child. And you aren't, Charlie Pace!" it's the voice again. But this time I have an answer.

"I know I'm not. But I'll be there for her; I'll be there for the child. Unlike the father!"
